The Production-Oriented Approach(POA)was born in the wave of foreign language teaching reform in China.Due to its excellent performance in foreign language teaching,especially English teaching,scholars have introduced the theory into the field of International Chinese Language Education to breathe new life into the field.Based on the basic concept of the Production-Oriented Approach,the author conducted a five-month oral teaching program for a learner with HSK4 Chinese proficiency level and examined the subject’s Chinese oral ability in three dimensions: Complexity,Accuracy and Fluency.After examining the students’ speaking production,we found that the students’ speaking complexity,accuracy and fluency were all developed,especially the improvement of complexity and fluency was the most obvious,but the improvement of accuracy was average.Finally,we conclude by reflecting on the shortcomings of the teaching practice and making some suggestions for other teaching elements.The introductory section firstly clarifies the basic contents of the topic,the purpose and significance of the study,and then reviews the current situation of the research on the application of Production-Oriented Approach in Chinese speaking teaching and "one-to-one" speaking teaching,followed by the theoretical knowledge of Production-Oriented Approach,and finally introduces the processing of the corpus and the three major dimensions of measuring speaking ability.The first chapter analyzes the teaching objects,teaching materials and their adaptation steps,and then introduces the design and presentation of the teaching process.The second chapter analyzes the developmental trajectory of learners’ speaking ability,specifically in terms of complexity,accuracy and fluency,and analyzes the interaction between these three dimensions.The final chapter first describes the teaching feedback of other teachers using the POA teaching method,then summarizes the developmental changes of learners’ speaking ability,compares and reflects on the shortcomings and problems in teaching and puts forward ideas for improvement,and finally puts forward corresponding suggestions in terms of teaching materials,teaching process,online teaching,one-on-one teaching mode and lack of target language environment,in order to provide Chinese teachers with some new ideas.
