With the progress and development of Chinese international education,Chinese plays an important role in the world.Among the special group of overseas Chinese students who are good at Chinese listening and speaking,the learning of Chinese characters is a major difficulty.In this paper,13 Singaporean Chinese students taught by the author in the LingoAce teaching platform are taken as the research objects,and the bias phenomenon existing in the process of learning Chinese characters is found and analyzed.Meanwhile,the action research is carried out around the bias phenomenon and the causes.Finally,some suggestions are put forward from the aspects of teachers,students and curriculum.Through classroom observation,video playback,and post-class assignments,285 cases of Chinese character mispronunciation(including mispronunciation of close characters,mispronunciation of polyphonic characters,mispronunciation of morpho-synthetic characters,mispronunciation of Chinese characters due to addition/decision of meaning characters,and mispronunciation of Chinese characters due to phonological errors)and 325 cases of mispronunciation of Chinese characters due to phonological errors were compiled.The study also included 325 cases of writing errors(including stroke errors,part errors,whole character structure errors,and other types of errors).The study concluded that the errors of the subjects were more prominent in the areas of morphological similarity,stroke order,and structure of the whole character.The author conducted two rounds of teaching action research around the above problems.The purpose of the first round of action research was to improve the Chinese character recognition ability of the study participants,and the second round of action research aims to improve the subjects’ ability to write Chinese characters.Finally,the process and results of the two rounds of action research are summarized and reflected.The research proves that after two rounds of action research,the bias phenomenon in the learning process of Chinese characters has been alleviated,which is mainly reflected in the shape proximity/sound character reading bias,Chinese writing stroke order bias and component position bias.Finally,by observing and analyzing the classroom teaching process and referring to the interviews with some teachers,this paper puts forward corresponding suggestions for the problems existing in the online Chinese character learning process of the research objects from the perspectives of teacher teaching,student learning and curriculum setting,summarizes appropriate and useful teaching and learning methods,and further innovates ideas for students’ online Chinese character learning and teachers’ online Chinese character teaching.In order to play a greater role.The innovation of this paper is as follows: Firstly,it enriches the study on the localization of online Chinese character teaching.The research object of this paper is Chinese students in Singapore.In the existing research literature,most of the research objects come from Vietnam,Myanmar,Thailand in Southeast Asia,as well as a few European and American countries and African countries,etc.,but there are few research literatures on Chinese students in Singapore.This study on Chinese students in Singapore has enriched the study on the localization of online Chinese character teaching to a certain extent.Second,it combines theory with practice.Based on the LingoAce teaching platform and taking the students taught by the author as examples,the research of this paper firstly collected and sorted out the relevant corpus of Chinese character learning and analyzed the reasons.Secondly,the corresponding teaching plan was designed according to the reasons and the specific teaching practice was carried out.Finally,the results were obtained.In this series of research process,not only the application of theoretical knowledge,but also the presentation of teaching practice,to achieve the combination of theory and practice,has a certain practical and exploratory significance.Thirdly,it effectively alleviates the partial error of Chinese students in learning Chinese characters in Singapore.After two rounds of teaching action research,some Singaporean Chinese students have less errors when reading and writing Chinese characters,and their pronunciation when reading Chinese characters,stroke order when writing Chinese characters,and structure of Chinese characters are becoming more standard.Students’ Chinese character learning ability has been improved to a certain extent.Fourthly,it explores operable suggestions or measures for Chinese students in Singapore to learn Chinese characters,so as to provide reference for Chinese students in Singapore to teach and learn Chinese characters.
