As a world-famous intangible cultural heritage,presents extremely distinctive elements of Traditional Chinese culture and the essence of historical culture.Today,with the rapid development of modern technology and digital media technology,the attraction of traditional shadow play is declining.Inheriting protection and innovative development of traditional shadow puppetry are urgent needs for diverse cultural exchanges in the world,as well as precious resources for the development of modern art and design.Therefore,it is of great practical significance to combine traditional shadow puppetry art with modern design and innovate traditional shadow puppetry with modern technology.Taking Haining shadow play as an example,this paper explores the cultural connotation of traditional shadow play,analyzes the performance characteristics of traditional shadow play,and explores the application and innovation of traditional shadow play art in modern design by using digital technology.Use software like Illustrate to vectorize and redesign traditional shadow puppetry figures,use tools like Twinmotion to build and dynamically display shadow puppetry display scenes,and spread shadow play culture through popular communication methods,so that shadow play can have a better feeling in terms of communication mode,experience form,communication and interaction.Based on modern science and technology,digital design and application research of traditional shadow play broadens the path of shadow play art protection and development.
