Since ancient times,Chinese poetry and dance have always been regarded as two art forms of the same origin, and the art of poetry,as a treasure of Chinese culture, has provided a constant source of inspiration for dance creation. In the creation of dance in the context of poetry, the author recognizes that both are subject to the aesthetic interest of Chinese art, which is "still imagery",and thus believes that the visual construction of poetic imagery is the core aspect of dance creation.Because of the pivotal position of imagery in the aesthetic context, the study of imagery in dance creation is mostly theoretically biased for aesthetics, ignoring the fact that the term imagery is also an important term in the psychological discipline as a study of human psychological phenomena in general, and has extraordinary significance for the production of dance creation, the understanding and appreciation of works in terms of human perception and thinking. When it comes to imagery, then,it is important not to talk about its beauty alone, while ignoring its psychological value.Under the radiation of Gestalt’s holistic view, combined with documentary analysis and empirical summary, this paper discusses the "heterogeneous and homogeneous theory" of this school of thought, which discusses the psychological basis that poetry and dance can convey the same aesthetic experience, laying the foundation for the creation of dance;the "imagery reconstruction theory" constructs a relatively complete research step-by-step diagram for the creation of dance in the context of poetry;Gestalt psychologist Rudolf Arnheim’s research on "force patterns" points out the direction of visual and perceptual practice for the specific creation part. The purpose of this paper is to explore the psychological basis for transforming poetic imagery into danceable material and eventually into dance works,as well as its feasibility and realization path, under the guidance of Gestalt-related theories.
