Research On The Characters Of Private Documentaries From The Perspective Of Reception Aesthetics

Private documentaries,as a small branch of documentaries,have never been mainstream and controversial in their development.’Private’ and ’public’ are relative and have the characteristic of being private.The unique private nature of private documentaries corresponds to the public nature in documentaries."Private" refers to private,personal,obscure,and so on,while public is public,mainstream,and so on.The seemingly opposite is actually not the case,because regardless of the type of documentary,its purpose is unique,that is,to pursue truth.Compared to documentaries and public opinion,private documentaries pursue individuality and independence,challenging the authority of public discourse.This may seem to deviate from the mainstream,but the charm of private documentaries lies in their pursuit of self,which is the best way for private documentaries to appear in front of the public.Compared to mainstream authority,their privatization and individuality are less concerned,and from an individual perspective,they use special Experience the true temperature of life through non mainstream creative methods.The filming focus of private documentaries revolves around ordinary people,aiming to showcase the ordinary lives of ordinary people around them,allowing us to discover a possibility of presenting daily life and recording ordinary people.This,in turn,complements the depiction of personal images in the context of mainstream grand narratives.This article focuses on the category of private documentaries and explores the issues related to the characterization of private documentaries in the current era from the perspective of reception aesthetics.The paper mainly includes three main parts.Among them,the first part is an introduction,which provides an overview of the research background and significance of the paper,the current research status of domestic and foreign research photography,literature review,and research methods.The second part is divided into three chapters,among which the first chapter introduces the relevant overview of reception aesthetics theory and private documentaries,respectively explaining the concept and core viewpoints of reception aesthetics theory,the origin and development of private documentaries,the definition of concepts,and an overview of influencing characteristics,as well as the character images of reception aesthetics and private documentaries;The second chapter takes the "perspective of expectation" as the main theoretical viewpoint,elaborates on the character image construction of private documentaries,presenting it through three aspects:stylistic expectation,intentional expectation,and implied expectation;The third chapter takes the"summoning structure"as the main theoretical perspective to elaborate on the audio-visual construction of characters in private documentaries,and analyzes the audio-visual construction of characters in private documentaries through the "blank","vacancy",and "negation" in the "summoning structure" theory;The fourth chapter is the interpretation of the work based on one’s own shooting work-"Under the Epidemic".The third part is the conclusion,references,and acknowledgments.This article will combine existing theories of private documentaries,combine theory with practice for research,and use the foundation of reception aesthetics to create a graduation work on the theme of private documentaries,"Under the Epidemic,"applying the exploration of character shaping in such private documentaries to practice.The graduation work records the personal life and emotions of the author’s parents,but from a small perspective,small families reflect big families,and small emotions convey big conversations.In the process of creating works,I will also continuously make up for my shortcomings in creative concepts and methods.
