In western portrait oil painting,the expression of light is not only a means to express objective objects,but also a visual symbol to express subjective emotions and organize picture forms.In traditional portrait oil painting and modern portrait oil painting art,it conveys different artistic connotations and has different ways of expression.The expression and study of light is particularly important and special in portrait oil painting.Its special status lies in that it is the only one that integrates the dual identity of "performer" and "represented".In the long history of portrait oil painting in Western countries,the public has long been accustomed to conforming to various painting languages expressed by light,while completely ignoring that light itself is also the essence of the subject.This paper will be divided into three chapters,namely from the theory and art works to enter into the topic of research.Chapter One: Mainly through the use of light and oil painting language to show the western portrait oil painting artistic charm.From the light and shadow and color,composition,shape and space to interpret the development process,way and aesthetic characteristics of light in portrait oil painting.Chapter Two: Tracing of light,expounds the significance and purpose of this paper’s essential research on "light expression" in portrait oil painting,through the reference of light related research literature,reflecting on the light in the process of its artistic evolution of the long-term emergence of the dual identity separation of "performer" and "represented",the value orientation of this problem.Chapter Three: Mainly through the representation of light in the classic portrait oil paintings in the history of art,such as Caravaggio’s revival of the dominant position of light,La Tour’s evolution from noumenal spiritual light to devout God’s light,Rembrandt’s unbending brilliance of life,Monet’s eternal and instant light.Through the interpretation of these colorful phenomena of light,it explores how these painters approach the expression of the essence of light in their works,and how to present the effect of the combination of "materiality" and "spirituality" in their works.Finally,based on the reflection of the current art status,through the inquiry of the nature of light in western portrait oil painting,to find out again the way of the expression of the true nature of light contained in different formal language phenomena of portrait oil painting. |
