"Ga" is a modal word often used in Kunming People’s Daily life.It has a tone, which is different from the soft modal word in Mandarin.Based on the phonetic corpus of Dongsi Street Xisi Lane,a dialect play in Kunming,we describe and analyze all the modal "Ga" in the play, and find that "ga" is a multifunctional modal, and its pragmatic functions cannot be unified and merged. From the perspective of frequency of use,"ga" is the most used in yes-no questions, which is the unmarked usage of "ga".Limited by space,we limit the scope of functional mood study of "ga" to yes-no questions. The yes-no questions studied in this paper refer to general yes-no questions and non-echo questions. We investigate the functional mood of modal "ga" in yes-no questions.Through the acoustic experiment on the interaction between modal "ga" and interrogative intonation and the acoustic experiment on whether modal "ga" carries interrogative intonation,we believe that "ga" can express interrogative intonation in yes-no questions, but it is generally combined with intonation, that is,modal "ga" and intonation both carry interrogative information, but modal "ga" carries more interrogative information. The function of question is strong, which is brought by its lexical meaning. We also investigate the functional mood of the modal "ga" in non-echo questions.By comparing the non-echo question with the non-echo question and the intonation of the non-echo question,we find that the modal word "ga" has a lower tone at the end of the non-echo question, focusing on the "doubt";The modal "ga" is relatively higher at the end of the yes/no question, focusing on "question",and the boundary tone can distinguish "doubt" and "question" to a certain extent. We also find that the modal word "Ga" has a very similar phonetic performance to the intonation yes and no questions. This paper preliminarily believes that this is because both the modal word "Ga" and the intonation yes and no questions express a certain tone of surprise, which also shows that it is reasonable to categorize the echo question as a yes and no question.
