A Study On The Characteristics Of Zhou Libo’s Local Novels

Local novel is an important genre in modern and contemporary Chinese novel creation.It is famous for its strong regional characteristics and individual homesickness.Hunan should be an important town in the creation of local novels in China.Many excellent local novel creators have emerged in Hunan,among which Zhou Libo is undoubtedly the brightest and most dazzling one.Zhou Libo’s local novels not only inherit the tradition of local novels since the May 4th Movement,with his hometown Yiyang as the background,richly and delicately describe the magical and beautiful natural scenery and time-honored folk culture of his hometown,showing strong regional characteristics and distinct cultural characteristics,and showing the writer’s simple,elegant,fresh and beautiful writing style.At the same time,he surpasses the traditional local novels.The countryside described in his local novels is a new socialist new countryside,which accepts the leadership and help of the Party,which is very different from the previous local novels.The local novels under his pen show the characteristics of the socialist era.Therefore,this paper takes the novel "A Great Change in Mountain Village" and 23 short stories written by Zhou Libo from 1954 to 1965 with the background of rural life in his hometown Yiyang as the research object to explore the creation characteristics of his local novels.This paper is divided into four parts.The first part mainly discusses the origin of regional culture in Zhou Libo’s local novels.The first part is the curious and romantic Chu culture,which makes the content of Zhou Libo’s local novels show the artistic style of advocating nature and romantic lyricism,and the characters in his works have a strong sense of subject.The second is the cultural tradition of applying the world to the world,which makes his creation show the cultural characteristics of intervening in politics,helping the world through the world,and the rational spirit based on reality without empty talk.The second part discusses the description of local customs from the perspective of Huxiang culture,mainly from the natural aesthetic consciousness of the description of natural scenery under the perspective of local culture,folk writing and simple and vivid dialect slang culture.To show the unique charm of Yiyang village under Zhou Libo’s pen.The third part discusses the writing of rural society from the perspective of Zhou Libo’s realism,mainly from the examination of the rural society’s realistic living state,realistic character image building,and natural personalization and character naturalization of these three aspects.To show Zhou Libo’s adherence to the spirit of realistic literature.The fourth part discusses the value and significance of Zhou Libo’s local novels,which is mainly reflected in the innovation of his local novels and the influence on Hunan and even China’s local novels.So as to show the important position of Zhou Libo’s local novels in the history of Chinese local literature.Through the exploration and excavation of this paper,readers can understand the different characteristics of Zhou Libo’s local novels,as well as the beautiful natural scenery and time-honored customs of his hometown Yiyang,Hunan Province,as well as the aesthetic pursuit and aesthetic value orientation of Zhou Libo in his creation.It provides some reference for later local novel creation.
