This report is a simulated consecutive interpreting practice report based on the Effort Model proposed by Daniel Gile, guided by the Beijing Film Academy Art Research Institute’s seminar on Warm Realism in New Era Film and Television Creation. The seminar invited relevant film industry professionals to discuss and reflect on topics such as the role of warm realism during the pandemic, how it reveals social issues, and how filmmakers can maintain their original creative intentions. The event involved some professional film terminology, colloquial expressions, and fragmented expressions, which posed challenges for the interpreter while also offering opportunities to broaden their professional knowledge and lay the foundation for future interpreting tasks. The Effort Model is an important theoretical framework for guiding simultaneous interpreting practices, exploring the cognitive constraints that hinder interpreters’ translation effectiveness. This practice report, guided by the Effort Model, can provide guidance and reference for simultaneous interpreters. The research and examples in this report show that simultaneous interpreting is an extremely challenging task, placing high demands on the interpreter’s adaptability, memory capacity, and energy allocation. The author draws the following conclusions from the issues and their solutions encountered during the practice process: First,Gile’s cognitive model plays a crucial guiding role in simultaneous interpreting.Second, online seminar simultaneous interpreting materials have unique characteristics, manifested in the synchronization of video and audio, requiring interpreters to complete the translation of relevant audio content before the video cuts to a new scene. The extraction of "keywords" and "new information" can effectively reduce the interpreter’s self-perceived cognitive load, improve translation efficiency, and ensure translation quality.Third, the reserve of relevant background knowledge is conducive to the smooth progress of simultaneous interpreting, helping interpreters to make accurate predictions of content, thereby reducing memory load and cognitive load, and improving translation quality. Finally, this report hopes to provide useful guidance and suggestions for interpreting students and beginners during the interpreting process.
