Nowadays, video games have become one of the most important leisure and entertainment ways for many people, which brings new vitality to the market and provides people with low-cost channels for relaxation. However, people are also worried about the negative effects of game addiction and bad factors in games. In the past, many people believed that violence in games would increase people’s aggressive behavior. Many theories, including Social learning theory and General aggression model, could provide theoretical support for these arguments, and a considerable number of empirical studies have confirmed this view. However, with the continuous deepening of research, more and more evidence shows that playing violent video games does not necessarily lead to an increase in players’ aggressive behavior, but there are other factors that may affect aggressive behavior. The individual’s psychology and behavior are affected by both internal and external factors. The existing research to verify the General aggression model mostly takes the violence factor in the video game as the antecedent variable, but seldom discusses the impact of individual internal factors and other factors in video games on the aggressive behavior.Recent research results show that the difficulty of violent video games is one of the factors that affect individual aggressive behavior. Many studies have also confirmed that ego depletion can predict individual aggression. In addition, some studies have examined the relationship between the personality traits of the "Big Five" and aggressive behavior, and the results show that neuroticism and agreeableness are most closely related to aggressive behavior.Based on the General aggression model,Self-Control theory, and "Big Five" personality theory, this study attempts to discuss the role of ego depletion in the process of the influence of the difficulty of violent video games on aggressive behavior, and also discusses the differences of cognition and behavior of individuals with different personality traits under the same conditions, and obtains the following conclusions:1.The difficulty of the video game has a significant impact on the player’s aggressive behavior, while the degree of violence has no significant impact on the aggressive behavior, and the interaction of the two has no significant impact on the aggressive behavior.2.Ego depletion has a partial mediating effect on the relationship between game difficulty and aggressive behavior.3.The neuroticism in the "Big Five" personality traits has a positive moderating effect in the direct effect of game difficulty on aggressive behavior.Among the subjects with higher neuroticism, the difficulty of game has a greater impact on aggressive behavior; However, among the subjects with low neuroticism, the difficulty of game has little effect on aggressive behavior.4.Agreeableness and ego depletion have a moderated mediator in the influence of game difficulty on aggressive behavior, and agreeableness has negative moderating effects on ego depletion caused by the increase of game difficulty.Among the subjects with high agreeableness, the difficulty of game had less influence on ego depletion. However,in the subjects with low agreeableness, the higher the difficulty of game, the stronger the ego depletion the subjects produced.
