The Construction Of Character Image In Subcultural Character Documentaries

Culture is an important embodiment of China’s socio-economic culture,and the diversification of social development has also caused the variability,complexity and openness of Chinese culture.The mainstream culture does not dominate all the space of social and cultural life,and as a subculture at the low end or middle end of the entire society and has not really obtained the right to speak in society,more and more cultural space has been obtained,which inevitably makes the mainstream culture and the subculture blend to a certain extent,which will play an increasingly critical impact on the cultural life mode and value orientation of the entire society.With the continuous development of documentary genres and production methods,the subject matter of shooting has gradually been enriched,and character documentaries with subcultural themes have increasingly appeared in the public’s vision.As an important branch of the documentary category,character documentaries have unparalleled advantages in restoring the real life conditions of individuals or groups.It is not only a platform for people to understand their own living conditions,but also a carrier for creators to think about and reveal human activities and social environment.People’s words,deeds,thoughts and emotions generated in different living environments are the focus of character documentaries.For character documentaries with subcultural themes,showing the subcultural style,subcultural lifestyle and the true feelings of the characters through the follow-up of the protagonist’s daily life and in-depth interview content is an important dimension for the construction of the image of subcultural characters.On the basis of filming the graduation work "Forty Not Confused",the author uses subculture-related theories to enrich the character image construction strategy of subcultural character documentaries,integrates character image construction theory and subculture theory through the combination of theory and practice,and uses subculture-related theories to analyze and guide the character image construction of subcultural character documentaries.This paper first provides a more detailed theoretical explanation of subculture and character image construction theory in the review part.Secondly,in the second and third chapters,combined with the graduation works,the image shaping strategies and audiovisual language use strategies of documentaries of subcultural characters are comprehensively discussed.In the fourth chapter,the author analyzes the connotation of the beauty of subcultural characters in combination with the theoretical research of subculture,and provides a relatively three-dimensional and comprehensive supplement to the shaping of character images in combination with the characteristics of subcultures.In the fifth chapter,the author reflects deeply on the creation of his graduation work.
