"Five hundred years ago,a wasteland was built, and five hundred years later,a building was built outside." In the early Ming Dynasty,Hankou was still a barren reed wasteland.During the Ming and Qing dynasties,Hankou rose, completely different from the traditional regional economic center of the agricultural era, exhibiting the characteristics of a modern central city, forming a radiative shipping and economic network centered on Hankou in the central region of the entire Yangtze River basin.Since its opening in 1861,Hankou has opened a foreign trade port with Shanghai, starting a rapid transformation from a traditional commercial town to a modern city.During this period,Hankou clearly displayed three characteristics as a regional central city: in modern times,Hankou was a regional transportation hub and trade center; The economic center of the region;Clustering and radiation effects on regions. In modern times,Hankou,as an economic center, had a strong radiating influence on the region.Due to its radiating influence,46 small towns or fairs known as "Little Hankou" emerged in history. The spatial distribution of these "Xiaohankou" involves 6 provinces and15 prefecture-level cities, presenting a wide range of distribution, but uneven distribution, and mainly located along the river or in its hinterland. The rise and fall of "Xiaohankou" is closely related to its main urban functions.By comparing the spatial distribution of "Little Hankou" and "Little Nanjing",the factors that affect the radiation effect of central cities are analyzed, and the radiation effect of central cities is further investigated.Hankou and Nanjing,as typical regional central cities, have different radiation paths and effects on regional towns.Through comparison,it can be seen that the factors that affect the radiation effects of central cities include: the characteristics of central cities themselves; The radiation path of the central city; There are three aspects of the degree of connection between central cities and regional towns. In modern times, the trade network centered in Hankou gathered department stores, but tea was the bulk.Over two hundred years of tea trade between China and Russia,a tea ceremony trade transportation network centered on Hankou has been formed. The vast majority of "Xiaohankou" towns are covered by this trade network, and these towns have gradually developed relying on the tea ceremony.Their rise and decline are closely related to the tea ceremony in history.Taking the tea trade as the background and the cities and towns carried by the transportation and trade network of the Wanli tea ceremony as the object of investigation, this paper explores the radiation effect of modern central cities.
