In September 2021,the author began to translate serial academic papers on“Digital Literature”,as part of background research for the project Chinese-English Translation Studies of Chinese Web Novels and Database Construction. The source text,as typical academic text, serves to convey academic content and professional expertise which is the major challenge in this translation. To ensure the quality and the efficiency of this translation practice, the “Comprehension,Expression,Adaption”(CEA)Framework is taken as the guidance and SDL Trados as the Computer Aided Translation(CAT)tool. The report begins with a brief overview of the project’s background, content, relevance, and translation process. The CEA framework and academic translation studies are next presented.Analyses are made based on case studies from three dimensions: comprehension, expression, and adaptation in context of academic translation, and the main conclusions are summarized as follows:(1)The key points of comprehension of this source text include that of genre, styles, terms, and semitechnical words. The report argues that styles should be faithful to the source text and the parallel text can serve as a reference for comprehending the combination of the genre feature and individual style.Additionally, terms should be standardized, and semi-technical words verified from various sources.(2)Regarding the expression of the translated text,to retain, unpack or omit are options to deal with nominalization in different context, while over-Europeanization should be avoided by appropriate wording and phrasing, and run-on sentences are recommended to convey the logic of the original hypotaxis language to the parataxis one.(3)Concerning the adaptation, the report advises specifying deixis and deleting repeated person pronouns with an understanding of pronoun functions, converting the double dash based on its context, and rearranging the sentence order according to its inner logic. It is hoped,by the case analysis of this report,to offer certain reference for the E-C translation of academic text.
