The Influence Of Credibility And Fee Of Young Counselors On College Students’ Online Help-Seeking Willingness

In recent years,online psychological counseling has attracted more and more attention.Meanwhile,some psychological counselors choose to present their own information and provide psychological counseling services through the Internet.Online information presentation of counselors usually includes: psychological counselors expertness,personal photos,fees and other information.The information reflected the credibility of the counselors,which refers to the belief of the clients on the help ability of the licensed psychologic counselors.In this study,the expertness,facial trustworthiness and sex of the counselors were used as indicators to measure the credibility of the counselors.When people browse the web,the information has a certain effect on help-seeking willingness.This study collected online service information of counselors through big data survey to understand the status quo of online psychological services,and further explored the influence of the content presented by online counselors on college students’ help-seeking willingness through behavioral experiments.The research has been divided into two studies.In the first study,big data analysis was used to analyze the current situation of network counselors.It includes: personal profile,qualification,education background,training experience,duration of counseling experience,number of cases,areas of expertise,consulting fees,etc.The results showed that the information presented by counselors was uneven,incomplete and standardized.The current situation was as follows:(1)the gender ratio of male and female counselors was significantly different(male is 27.40%);(2)The majority of counselors with unknown educational background(91.66%),less counselors had bachelor’s or master’s degree or above(8.34%);(3)National level 2 and 3 psychological counselors were the most common professional qualifications of psychological counseling,and there were relatively few registered psychologists,psychotherapists and registered supervisors;(4)What counselors do best was in the field of romantic relationship and personal growth.In the scend study,it consists of two experiments.Experiments 1 used 3(expertness:high,medium and low)× 3(facial trustworthiness: high,medium and low)× 2(facial sex:male and female)three-factor within experiment design.Taking expertness,facial trustworthiness and facial sex as the subjects’ internal variables,and the degree of help-seeking willingness as the dependent variable.The results showed that:(1)the main effects of expertness,facial trustworthiness and facial sex were significant;(2)The interaction between expertness and facial trustworthiness was significant.High expertness enhanced the influence of facial trustworthiness on college students’ help-seeking willingness,female counselors with high expertness were more popular,and female counselors with high facial trustworthiness were more popular.(3)Among expertness,facial trustworthiness and facial sex,the interaction of these three factors was significant.College students were more willing to seek help from female counselors with high expertness and high facial trustworthiness.(4)There was gender effect on college students’ help-seeking willingness.Both male and female students preferred female counselors,and female students were more willing to seek help from female counselors.Experiments 2 used 3(expertness: high,medium and low)× 3(fee: high,medium and low)two-factor within experiment design.Counselors’ facial trustworthiness and sex,were used as control variables,taking expertness and fee as internal variables,and the degree of help-seeking willingness as the dependent variable.The results showed that:(1)the main effect of expertness and fees was significant;(2)There was a significant interaction between expertness and fees.Compared with low counseling fees,high counseling fees weaken the influence of expertness on college students’ psychological help-seeking willingness.To sum up,this study showed that female counselors with higher credibility,that is say,higher expertness,higher facial trustworthiness and lower fees can trigger higher psychological willingness to seek help help-seeking willingness for college students.
