Research On The Theme Of Violence In Roberto Bola(?)o’s Works

Roberto Bola(?)o is the second generation writer of "Post-Boom Latinoamericano".In1998,he won the Rómulo Gallegos International Fiction Award by virtue of Los Detectives Salvajes,which officially entered the public’s view and became famous around the world.This thesis takes Roberto Bola(?)o as the research object,using the methods of textual close reading and holistic research,to study the theme of violence presented in his two novels,five novellas,two collections of short stories,and one poetry collection.This thesis discusses the way of expression of the theme of violence,the black hole narration under the theme of violence,the profound connotation of the theme of violence and Bola(?)o’s view of violence,and explores the construction of Bola(?)o’s theme of violence and the profound philosophy put in it by the author.There are six chapters in this thesis.The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly introduces the background of the topic and the research summary at home and abroad.In the background of the topic,it introduces the coordinates,life and the reasons for his writing violence.The second chapter uses (?)i(?)ek’s theory of violence to analyze the two manifestations of the violence theme in Bola(?)o’s works,namely physical violence and mental violence.Physical violence is mainly manifested in three ways: being destroyed,dismembered and raped;Mental violence is mainly manifested in three ways: mental threat,mental control and mental dilemma.The third chapter mainly analyzes the black hole narrative strategy under the theme of violence.Li Songrui put forward the strategy of "black hole narratology" in his research paper on Bola(?)o.Black hole narration refers to a center of violence in the works.The gravity of this center attracts many people and events into the vortex,thus constructing a landscape of comprehensive violence and forming a presentation of the theme of violence.In order to deepen understanding,the author adopts the method of combining pictures and text.The fourth chapter analyzes the profound significance of the theme of violence.By writing on the theme of violence,Bola(?)o laments the poet’s suffering,expresses the threat of war and dictatorship to survival,and presents the plight of all mankind.The fifth chapter analyzes Bola(?)o’s view of violence.Through the analysis of the theme of violence in the above three chapters,it extracts Bola(?)o’s view of violence that opposes violence and uses literature to eliminate violence.The sixth chapter is the summary of the full text.In short,the full text focuses on the analysis and research of the theme of violence in Bola(?)o’s works.We will see the unique violent world and great literary imagination in Bola(?)o’s works.
