Native Avalokitesvara is a kind of image of Avalokitesvara with local cultural characteristics formed by the transformation of ancient Indian Buddhism after it was introduced into China. At the same time, this localized Guanyin is no longer a simple worship of gods, but a religious form with more complex structure and rich connotation, which has permeated Chinese values of etiquette and law.Between the 10 th and 13 th centuries, the localization of Guanyin image developed rapidly in different parts of China.Represented by the Water and Moon Kuan-Yin images of Dali kingdom Acaya Avalokitesvara and Song dynasty, different localized Guanyin forms were formed in the Central Plains and Southwest China respectively under the influence of their respective cultures.Acaya Avalokitesvara first appeared in Nanzhao Tuzhuan. As a secret Buddhist image of Avalokitesvara unique to Nanzhao and Dali kingdom,Acaya Avalokitesvara has obvious national protection and strong religious and political attributes. Its image also has strict modeling measures. It can’t be changed at will. Most of the surviving Acaya Avalokitesvara works are metal sculptures dating from the Dali kingdom, with a small number of stone engravings.Water and Moon Kuan-Yin are important localized Guanyin images produced in Tang and Song dynasties.Due to the development of Zen Buddhism in Song Dynasty and the praise of literati, the images of Water and Moon Kuan-Yin were rapidly promoted in different strata, and their status among the people was elevated from subordinate to master. Its belief in Guanyin has been continued in the folk.Different shapes of statues of male and female bodies began to change in different regions during the Song Dynasty.Paintings, sculptures and existing fine works of Water and Moon Kuan-Yin images were mostly drawn and excavated during this period. This paper mainly starts from the perspective of visual image language, from the perspective of formal characteristics, artistic style, craft aesthetic characteristics, etc. In view of the Acaya Avalokitesvara statues in Dali kingdom and the Water and Moon Kuan-Yin statues in Song dynasty at the same time, the modeling culture of Guanyin in different regions is discussed.
