The Effect Of Parental Parents’ Phubbing On Middle School Students’ Mobile Phone Addiction: A Moderated Mediation Model And Intervention Study | Posted on:2024-01-20 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | Country:China | Candidate:M Q Zhu | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2555307112497234 | Subject:Applied psychology | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | Mobile phone addiction has now received widespread attention from society due to its negative impact on the development of an individual’s mental health.Adolescence is an important stage in an individual’s physical and mental development,and junior high school students at this stage develop various psychological characteristics and are vulnerable to the influence of the external environment.This study examines the relationship between Parents’ Phubbing and mobile phone addiction among middle students from the perspective of their internal psychological mechanisms and external environment,as well as the role of loneliness and peer attachment,and uses this as the basis for a group psychological counselling intervention study on peer attachment.Study 1 used the "Parental Phubbing Scale","UCLA scale",the Peer Attachment Subscale of "the Parent and Peer Attachment Scale" and "Mobile Phone Addiction Index Scale" to conduct a questionnaire survey on 450 middle school students in G city to explore the relationship between middle school students’ Parents’ Phubbing on middle school students’ mobile phone addiction,to test the mediating role of loneliness and the moderating role of peer attachment,and to provide theoretical support for peer attachment intervention.The results of the study are as follows:(1)There were significant differences in loneliness by gender and family economic status;significant differences in the alienation dimension of peer attachment by grade level;and significant differences in mobile phone addiction by grade level.(2)Parents’ Phubbing was significantly and positively correlated with loneliness and mobile phone addiction,and significantly and negatively correlated with peer attachment,respectively;loneliness was significantly and positively correlated with mobile phone addiction,and peer attachment was significantly and negatively correlated with mobile phone addiction.(3)Parents’ Phubbing has a significant positive predictive effect on mobile phone addiction,and can indirectly predict mobile phone addiction among middle school students through loneliness.(4)Peer attachment moderates the first half of the pathway of Parents’ Phubbing acting on mobile phone addiction through loneliness.According to the separation-individuation theory,middle school students in the second stage of separation-individuation are becoming less emotionally dependent on their parents,and their peers have become new objects for them to obtain emotional support and meet their emotional needs.Therefore,in this study,peer attachment was chosen as the intervention variable and group counselling was used to intervene with them A total of 20 students with low levels of peer attachment in the first and second year were selected and randomly divided into an experimental group(10 students)and a control group(10students).A homogeneity test was conducted on the two groups before the activity to confirm that they were homogeneous.A six-week,weekly group counselling session was then conducted for the experimental group,with no treatment for the control group;tests were conducted after the intervention and two months after the intervention to explore the effectiveness and stability of peer attachment group counselling.The findings of the study were as follows.At the end of the group counselling,the experimental group scored significantly higher on peer attachment and significantly lower on loneliness and mobile phone addiction,with significant differences from the control group,and the effects persisted after two months.Conclusion: Parents’ Phubbing can directly affect middle school students’ mobile phone addiction and also have an indirect effect through loneliness;peer attachment can moderate the mediating effect of Parents’ Phubbing on middle school students’ mobile phone addiction through loneliness,and a moderating mediating effect is established;group counselling based on peer attachment can effectively improve middle school students’ level and reduce the level of loneliness and mobile phone addiction. | Keywords/Search Tags: | Parents’ Phubbing, loneliness, peer attachment, mobile phone addiction, Intervention studies | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
