Mozart,a gifted composer,surprisingly little of his religious works are currently discussed and analyzed in detail.Although his religious music works account for a small percentage of his output,his requiems,masses and religious ritual music works remain a very important part of his creative career.This paper takes The Solemn Vespers of the Confessor,hereafter referred to as "Vespers",as the object of study,and intends to conduct a comprehensive analysis on four levels: Mozart’s religious beliefs,the text of the lyrics,the musical ontology,and the cultural function.Through the analysis and study of this work,we try to understand the social history,political,religious,cultural,and life aspects of Mozart’s time as well as the spiritual world and the connotation of this work.The first part: "Mozart’s Religious Beliefs and the Description of the Background of the Composition of the Vespers K.339".This section focuses on the historical background of the city of Salzburg,followed by the history of Mozart’s family religious beliefs and their excavation.Finally,it introduces the background of the composition of Mozart’s church music "Vespers".Part Ⅱ: "Analysis of the Lyric Texts of The Solemn Vespers of the Confessor".This section focuses on the translation and interpretation of the lyric texts of each movement,which is studied with the aim of understanding the specific cultural function of Vespers and its value as well as analyzing the connotation of the text,further preparing the author for further understanding of the art form of the Vespers ritual.Part Ⅲ: "Analysis of the musical form of the The Solemn Vespers of the Confessor".This section focuses on the ontology of the music and examines the compositional techniques,characteristics and its style,laying a good foundation for the author from the perspective of musicology and music analysis.Part Ⅳ: "Analysis of the Cultural Function of The Solemn Vespers of the Confessor".This section focuses on the religious ritual function of the work and its artistic and aesthetic characteristics,and explores the artistic and aesthetic values generated by the work.Through the above research,I can not only have a more comprehensive understanding of the musical work "The Solemn Vespers of the Confessor" K.339,but also provide basic research work on Mozart’s religious beliefs and ritual music.
