Abstract/Summary:
This paper takes Eternal Pine,Ode to Eternal Pine,Sizhu Eternal Pine(hereinafter collectively referred to as "Eternal Pines" series works),the last three works of Chinese American composer Chou Wen-chung,as the object of study.It mainly focuses on the ontological form of music works,comprehensively and deeply analyzes the series of works from the aspects of music structure,pitch organization,sound structure,orchestration characteristics,etc.summarizes the composer’s unique technical language and style characteristics,and then carries out more in-depth thinking and exploration on the connotation of oriental aesthetics contained in the works.The paper consists of introduction,four chapters and conclusion.The introduction part includes the reason and significance of the topic,and mainly combs and analyzes the research status of Chou Wen-chung’s music creation.The first chapter is an overview of Chou Wen-chung and the Eternal Pines.It briefly introduces Chou Wen-chung’s life and music creation,and expounds the creative background,creative techniques and creative value of the Eternal Pines.The second chapter is one of the key contents of this paper,taking the pitch organization characteristics of the Eternal Pines as the research core,analyzing and concluding from the horizontal and vertical pitch organization,and exploring the development mode of pitch materials,and then summarizing the features of the series of works in which the pitch materials present a dynamic and diverse.The third chapter focuses on the sound structure,from the expression of the single instrument timbre in the three works to the differential expression of the composite timbre,and then to the expansion of the "timber-sound view" in the works,to explore the tension expression of the timbre,and finally concludes that its sound structure has the characteristics of gradual change and freehand brushwork.The fourth chapter is based on the analysis of music ontology in the form of the first three chapters,and then carries out more in-depth thinking and exploration on the connotation of the oriental aesthetic thought contained in the Eternal Pines.The conclusion is the summary and conclusion of the previous article,and makes further extension.The purpose of this paper is to explore the characteristics of pitch organization and sound structure of the Eternal Pines by analyzing the inherent technical characteristics,so as to reveal the meaning of the integration of traditional Chinese culture,Asian music culture and western composition techniques,and try to appreciate the forward-looking of the composer’s concept of music "convergence" and the spirit of life contained in the works.
