| With the deep promotion of global economic integration,talents who master English pragmatic ability and are familiar with professional English and professional skills have shown great advantages in learning advanced foreign knowledge,understanding advanced foreign concepts and skills and other international aspects.It can be seen that the English education of higher vocational colleges is undertaking more and more responsibilities for cultivating high-quality and high skilled talents in the new era and new development environment.At the present stage of English teaching in higher vocational colleges,the classroom teaching method is still“teacher’s explanation,students’ passive acceptance”.This not only affects the effectiveness of classroom teaching,but also makes vocational students with weak foundation lose their subjective initiative in learning.With the purpose of improving the present situation of English teaching in higher vocational colleges,this research attempts to construct an incentive English learning class in higher vocational colleges based on the incentive theory.Through the combination of theory and practice,we can explore the application and influence of incentive teaching methods in higher vocational English teaching.The incentive teaching methods respect the students’ personalities and needs and give the classes back to students.In this way,the classes will be more appealing to the students,and stimulate students’ desire for knowledge,release students’ subjective initiative and motivate the classroom learning.On the basis of consulting relevant literature on the incentive teaching methods and systematically learning the theoretical knowledge of incentive teaching methods,this research concludes that the principles of application of incentive teaching methods are fairness principles,timeliness principles,and pertinent principles.Incentive teaching methods use specific methods as target incentive method,interest incentive method,competition incentive method and reward and punishment incentive method.The object in this research is the students in a vocational school in Suzhou.Using the incentive teaching method,the researcher conducts practical teaching of the six units teaching examples in English Volume Five.Before the practical research,the researcher found out the students’ English achievement and learning initiative through a questionnaire and an English test.Based on incentive theory,the researcher designed and applied an incentive teaching model that conforms to the characteristics of higher vocational students.Through a semester of teaching practice,the researcher provided long-term and purposeful motivation to students.After the practical research,the researcher conducted another round of research,including a questionnaire survey and an English test,and compared the results of the two rounds to evaluate the practical effectiveness of the incentive teaching method from two aspects: higher vocational students’ English knowledge and skills,and their subjective learning initiative.Through interviews with students in the class,the researcher learned about students’ intuitive attitudes towards the use of incentive teaching methods in current English teaching.The specific research results are as follows: The application of incentive teaching method to English teaching in higher vocational colleges meets the needs of students based on their characteristics,and students hold a positive attitude of recognition.The application of incentive teaching method to English teaching in higher vocational improves teaching effectiveness and makes a difference to the students’ English scores.By comparing and analyzing the first test and the second test,almost all the students’ scores in the class have improved a lot.The application of incentive teaching method to English teaching in higher vocational colleges improves students’ subjective learning initiative,making them more willing to communicate and share,and more actively participating in English classes.To a certain extent,this study enriches the theoretical research on the English incentive teaching in higher vocational education.Hope that this research will provide some information and reference in-depth study of the relevant counterparts in the future. |
