“Interviews on Thirteen Guests” and “Round Table Discussion” can be considered as the evergreen trees of talk shows in recent years.From the several seasons that have been broadcasted,the programs always aim to promote excellent culture and serve the overall situation of social development,which are very representative network talk shows nowadays.The two shows are similar in form,with the host controlling the show and many guests apperaing,interacting with the audience through the Internet platform,which differ from traditional TV programs in form and content.Although the two programs all belong to the crossover combination of cultural program and talk show,there are many differences in style.Therefore,this paper selects 20 episodes of the program corpus to compare and analyze the characteristics of conversational structure and explore the linguistic factors behind the differences.This article consists of five parts:The introduction briefly tells the reason for selecting the topic,the value of the study,the theoretical results in writing,the angle of research,the method of conversational analysis and the description of the transcription corpus.In the first part,we analyze the conversations from the communicative and linguistic contexts,based on the background of the programs and a detailed review of the style of“Interviews on Thirteen Guests” and “Round Table Discussion”.On this basis,we deduce the features of conversational implicature in relation to the communicative contexts.The first part detaily combs the characteristics of “Interviews on Thirteen Guests” and“Round Table Discussion” in terms of program summaries,context and conversational implicature on the basis of grasping the program background.It also makes a preliminary analysis of the interview conversations.In section two,the overall and local conversational structure are analysised particularly.First,focusing on the conversational sequence of opening,main and ending sections to analysis the macrostructure.Afterwards,doing a primary discussion of the conversation phenomena such as the turn,feedback,discourse overlapping and question-answer structure to gradually fill the conversational structure.The third part is a detailed analysis of the transformation mechanism,which explores how conversations are dynamically transformed to achieve a beginning and an end.First,we compare how the two programs use normal methods and abnormal methods such as interruption to get the turn,and how they hold the wheel with the help of conversational repair.Secondly,we analyze the abandonment of the turn from both active and passive perspectives,depending on the subjective will of the turn holder.Finally,following discussions above we put forward,we find that the conversational structure of “Round Table Discussion” has a distinct tendency to de-institutionalize compared with “Interviews on Thirteen Guests”,And then we explore the linguistic factors such as discourse power and mental space according to the conversation.This paper finds that the strength of the host’s discourse power and the mental space of the two parties in the conversation directly influence the expression of the discourse,and thus form the different characteristics of the conversational structure.
