From Confucius’ “precepts of passing the court”to the shaping of noble family manners and rituals in the Wei and Jin dynasties,the excellent tradition of emphasizing family education for future generations in ancient China has continued.Since the Tang and Song dynasties,Chinese society has entered the era of imperial examinations,and the focus of people’s education for their children and grandchildren has shifted to obtaining employment,opening a new era of family education.The Ming Dynasty was an important period for the development of family education in ancient China.In order to protect family property and promote family reputation,the officials of the Ming Dynasty attached great importance to the education of future generations.This article takes the education of the descendants of the official class in the Ming Dynasty as the research topic to explore the continuation of the tradition of the official class in the imperial examination era,emphasizing both etiquette and law education and career education.They teach their children is mainly carried out through family letters and instructions.Due to the official avoidance system,officials and scholars are far away from their hometown,but they are concerned about their descendants,and family education has become a common form;Or take their children(grandchildren)to their posts,supervise their children’s studies and teach etiquette in their leisure time.The content of their education includes knowledge education and etiquette education.Making them a family member with both moral and moral integrity.The education of the descendants of the official class in the Ming Dynasty is not only a family issue,but also a social issue.Summarizing the methods and experiences of educating children among the official classes in the Ming Dynasty is of great significance for us to carry forward the excellent traditional family education tradition.
