A Study Of Conceptual Metaphor In The Main Melody TV Series <Our Ten Years>

Metaphor is closely related to people’s daily life.It is not only a means of language expression,but also reflects people’s way of thinking and cognitive process.Through the recognition,interpretation and application of metaphor,it can enhance the richness,humor and appeal of language expression.Based on the theory of conceptual metaphor,this paper explores the use of the conceptual metaphor in the main melody TV series <Our Ten Years>and aims to summarize and analyze the conceptual metaphor phenomenon in this main melody TV series more systematically,aiming to answer three questions:(1)Based on the conceptual metaphor theory of Lakoff and Johnson,what types of conceptual metaphors are commonly used in <Ours Ten Years> ?(2)What are the semantic structures and features of these conceptual metaphors in specific lines?(3)What is the pragmatic function of conceptual metaphor in <Ours Ten Years> ?In terms of the main types of conceptual metaphors in the main melody TV series <Ours Ten Years>,this paper divides them into 3 categories and 14 sub-categories,namely:Structural metaphor(war metaphor,architectural metaphor,journey metaphor,body metaphor,physical/chemical metaphor,plant metaphor,color metaphor),ontology metaphor(entity and material metaphor,container metaphor,personification metaphor),orientation metaphor(state metaphor,location metaphor,quantification metaphor,time metaphor).From the perspective of semantic structure and characteristics of conceptual metaphor,there are some instances in the use of these conceptual metaphors,such as ontological metaphor co-occurrence,ontological metaphor co-occurrence with the bottom of the metaphor,or ontological metaphor alone.The semantic features and expression effects presented by different semantic structures are also different.Its semantics are usually characterized by systematicness,contradiction,fuzziness,degree difference,etc.The understanding of specific semantics can be analyzed by combining relevance theory,context theory and cooperative principle.The pragmatic function of conceptual metaphor used in <Ours Ten Years>,on the one hand,is conducive to promoting the integrity and coherence of the overall semantic structure and enhancing the semantic expression effect;on the other hand,it also helps to enhance the ideological transmission function of the main melody TV series and trigger the emotional resonance of the audience.On the one hand,the pragmatic function of conceptual metaphor used in the TV series <Our Ten Years> is conducive to promoting the integrity and coherence of the overall structure of each chapter and enhancing the semantic expression effect to a certain extent.On the other hand,it also helps to give full play to the ideological transmission function of the main melody TV series and trigger emotional resonance of the audience through the use of conceptual metaphor.It will promote the audience’s understanding of the current national development direction,development process and policies,and enhance the people’s sense of belonging,happiness and gain.
