| With the internationalization of academic exchange,the importance of academic English writing ability is becoming more and more evident.However,for a long time,the production ability of Chinese college students is insufficient,so their academic English writing ability needs to be improved urgently.Proposed by Wen Qiufang,Production-oriented Approach(POA)provides new research perspective for college English teaching,which has an important influence on the field of foreign language teaching.At present,there is little research on POA in the field of academic English writing,and even less research focuses on academic English writing ability.Therefore,this research aims at the exploration of the influence of POA on college students’ academic English writing ability.This research is mainly based on the teaching experiment,and the experimental participants are 32 freshmen majoring in Science and Engineering in China University of Petroleum(East China).Lasting for two semesters,the teaching experiment focuses on academic English writing ability,which is carried out from the aspects of the academic words,content organization and discourse structure and so on.Two writing scores of each participant are collected from the pre-test and the post-test.SPSS 26.0 is used for statistical analysis of the experimental data.And the influence of POA on students’ academic English writing ability is further studied according to the questionnaire and interview.The results show that:(1)Compared with the pre-test,the frequency of academic English words used by students in the post-test increases significantly(Sig.=.000<0.01).(2)Students’ academic English writing score improves significantly(Sig.=.002<0.01).Their abilities of the lexical and syntactic features,content organization,and discourse structure also make significant improvements.(3)Students generally believe that their academic English writing ability has been improved under the guidance of the POA teaching.In conclusion,it can be seen that the POA teaching effectively enhances students’ academic English writing ability.It is hoped that this research can provide some enlightenment for academic English writing teaching under the guidance of POA,so as to help college students to improve their academic English writing ability. |
