Collection And Analysis Of The Finals’s Shift In The Western Zhou Dynasty

The bronze inscriptions of the Western Zhou Dynasty provide rich materials for the phonetic study of the Western Zhou Dynasty.On the other hand,abundant research results have been achieved in the interpretation of Paleography,which has laid a good foundation for phonetic research.This dissertation aims to summarize and sort out the sound shifts materials including the pictophonetic characters 、 the phonetic loan characters and the rhymes from the bronze inscriptions of the Western Zhou Dynasty.And analyse the sound shifts examples one by one from various angles such as graphemes,rhyme category and meanings.On this basis,the dissertation gives a detailed description and analysis of the finals’ s shift in the Western Zhou Dynasty.In this way,our dissertation can observe the distance between rhyme classes in the Western Zhou Dynasty,provide valuable information for phonology of Western Zhou Dynasty and Interpretation of unearthed documents,and try to explain some special phonetic phenomena.The dissertation mainly uses historical examination,mutual-proving parallelism and double evidence as methodological guide.The dissertation consists of four parts:Chapter one is introduction,which mainly introduces the feasibility,significance and research overview of the topic.Chapter two mainly introduces the materials,concepts and methods of the research,and several problems that should be paid attention to in the research of finals’ s shift.There are homomorphic characters,Phonological judgment and polyphone and so on.Chapter three is the main part of the research,which summarize and sort out the sound shifts materials including the pictophonetic characters,the phonetic loan characters and the rhymes from the bronze inscriptions of the Western Zhou Dynasty.And analyses the sound shifts materials by combining paleography and documents handed down.The last part is a conclusion which summarizes some progress,shortcomings and future research direction.
