Wu Changshuo,as an outstanding artistic master in the history of calligraphy and painting in the late Qing Dynasty,integrated poetry,calligraphy,and painting,blending them into a furnace.Wu Changshuo is renowned for his profound calligraphy skills and poetic cultivation in painting.His freehand flower and bird brushstroke technique is thick and simple,with strong brushstroke power and dark and rich ink color,exuding an ancient and rustic aura,reflecting his characteristics of gold and stone painting,strong ink color,and freehand brushwork.This article takes the characteristics of Wu Changshuo’s pen and ink as the research object,and combines their impact on my graduation creation.The paper is divided into four parts for writing.The first part aims to understand the historical background of the formation of Wu Changshuo’s pen and ink by consulting relevant materials and literature.On the one hand,Wu Changshuo was influenced by family art culture and developed a strong interest in art from a young age;On the other hand,Wu Changshuo’s unique experience of mentoring and socializing broadened his artistic vision and had a great impact on the formation of his brushwork,laying the foundation for the study of the characteristics of brushwork in Wu Changshuo’s works in the following text.The second part takes Wu Changshuo’s freehand flower and bird paintings as an example to study their innovation on the basis of learning traditional brush and ink,so that the works reflect the characteristics of gold and stone in painting,thick ink and heavy color,and freehand brushwork,and have modern awareness and charm in aesthetics.The third part focuses on the combination of painting practice.Through the analysis and study of the characteristics of Wu Changshuo’s brush and ink in the previous chapter,it provides valuable experience for the author’s creation and broadens the way for better expression of his longing for nature and emotions;This chapter discusses in detail the inspiration and influence of Wu Changshuo’s freehand brushwork of flowers and birds on his graduation creation,and applies it to the creation of "Fun in the Flowers" and "Eastern and Western Painting".The fourth part explores and attempts the problems encountered in the application of Wu Changshuo’s brush and ink,enabling the author to have a deeper understanding and understanding of the creation of freehand flower and bird paintings,and then summarizes the importance of brush and ink elements in the creation of freehand flower and bird paintings.
