The common flaw in understanding beauty is that it is either understood as objective or subjective. The subjective school in history interprets beauty as the subjective feeling of the human heart, while the objective school interprets beauty as the objective attribute of things; The former is objectivism, while the latter is subjectivism. Both of them are in a situation where the subject and the object are in half.It is impossible to explain why beauty is beauty, which is one of the biggest puzzles in aesthetic research.Beauty goes beyond the realm of treating beauty as something outside of the heart and the heart outside of things, and it is precisely because things are indistinguishable from each other and the mind is connected with things that beauty comes into being. The ancient Chinese have long had good aesthetic thinking that can be used for reference by contemporary researchers-as reflected in the Book of Changes. This article will start with the hexagrams of "bi" in the Book of Changes, and find inspiration beyond the dichotomy of subject and object in ancient aesthetic thinking, attempting to further solve the aforementioned aesthetic confusion. The main body of this article is divided into three chapters, with the main content as follows:The first chapter explores the primitive subject object non discrimination thinking implied in the "bi" hexagram, which is the prerequisite for the aesthetic interpretation of the "bi" hexagram to go beyond the subject object dichotomy. The indiscriminate thinking of the subject and object in the hexagrams of the Book of Changes is determined by the "unity of heaven and man" thinking mode in the Book of Changes. The study of the unity of heaven and man in the Book of Changes has long shaken off the mysterious color of divination and witchcraft, changing the confrontation between oneself and the other. The discussion of aesthetic topics in the Book of Changes is also in the context of the unity of heaven and man,and the distinction between subject and object, and the aesthetic interpretation of the hexagrams in the Book of Changes is a typical example. In this chapter,we will focus on the "unity of heaven and man" thinking in the Book of Changes and provide a preliminary explanation of the text of the "bi" hexagram, explaining that the original thinking of the "person in the elephant" in the "bi" hexagram does not distinguish between subject and object.Chapter 2 summarizes, explains, and reflects on the existing viewpoints and discourse language of the aesthetic interpretation of the "bi" hexagrams. These viewpoints are classified into four categories in Chapter 2,namely the "Bai bi" view, the "Wen Zhi" view, the "Civilization to Stop" theory, and the "bi" hexagram beauty and social connection theory. These four types of viewpoints play a certain foundational role in the aesthetic interpretation of the "bi" hexagram, which transcends the dichotomy of subject and object and leads to the separation of subject and object. They have the potential to surpass the dichotomy of subject and object, but also face the problem of temporarily being unable to get rid of the dichotomy of subject and object. The reason why the aesthetic interpretation of the "bi" hexagram has the potential to surpass the dichotomy of subject and object is because it has entered the discussion of aesthetic topics in the "Book of Changes" and has begun to attempt to use the "unity of heaven and man" thinking method of subject and object, gradually approaching the implicit thinking of subject and object in the "bi" hexagram itself; The reason why we cannot get rid of it temporarily is because we are still trying to "see the essence through phenomena".The third chapter proposes that the aesthetic interpretation of the hexagrams in "bi" can transcend the "basic point" of the separation of subject and object-"seeking universality from particularity".The pursuit of universality from a special perspective is consistent with the original subject object indifference thinking implied in the "bi" hexagram, and it clearly breaks the idea of using universal objective laws to govern specific emotional cases.Instead,it affirms the value of intuitive and poetic thinking that "one is the whole",and aligns with the "unity of heaven and man" thought in the "Book of Changes",which can further advance the aesthetic interpretation of the "bi" hexagram towards surpassing the subject object dichotomy,It can also further promote domestic aesthetic research beyond the dichotomy of subject and object. In summary, this article takes the aesthetic interpretation of the hexagrams in the Book of Changes as the starting point, striving to see the big from the small, and utilizing the ancient aesthetic thinking of the Book of Changes to explore the contemporary value of past texts, striving to provide new ideas and expand new perspectives for aesthetic research beyond the dichotomy of subject and object.
