Heidegger’s Later Philosophizing:From Technology To Poetizing

Inspired by Thomas Sheehan’s new paradigm of Heidegger’s study,my paper describes Heidegger’s thinking approach as a "Sense-making Research" through "box metaphor".The important element of this "Research" focus on observing.People are both inside and outside the box,and people are both the observed and the observer of in the research.Technology is Heidegger’s observing motivation or observing atmosphere.Since the 20th century,the rapid development of science and technology has brought convenience to people’s lives,but it has also brought many disasters.Since 1930s,Heidegger has made a series of reflections and criticisms on the metaphysical basis of science and technology.The lecture The Age of World Picture attributed the metaphysical basis of science to the visualization of the world and the subjectivity of human beings,thus criticizing the imagery thinking of modern metaphysics.At the same time,the essence of modern science lies in technology.In Question Concerning Technology,Heidegger criticized the popular instrumental view of technology,tracing the essence of ancient technology to "Unverborgenheit",while the modern technology is characterized by "Gestell".As a of sending destiny,there is fundamental danger in Gestell,and there is saving in the danger.Heidegger emphasises that the essence of technology lies in the intertwined relationship between the irresistibility of ordering and the restraint of the saving power.One has to rely on art and poetry to accomplish the saving of technology from the destiniting dangers.Thinking as Clearing is the approach of observing.In What Called Thinking,Heidegger made a unique description and inquiry of the thinking portrait.The End of Philosophy and the Task of Thinking holds that the traditional metaphysics,the influenced science and technology have developed to their most extreme possibility,and when philosophy comes to an end,thingking should undertake the mission of asking for sense and Being.When philosophy coming to its end,the so-called philosophical spirit of "to the things themselves" is to think about "Clearing" : the intrinsically hidden freely opening field that makes sense to Being and beings.Finally,the poetizing interpretation guarantees the observing mysteriousness.In The Nature of Language,Heidegger believes that this freely opening field must be typically obtained in the “Auseinanderseztung between poetizing and thinking”,so as to open the the intrinsically hidden Clearing that makes sense to Being.What are Poets For? interprets H(?)lderin’s verse ".....and what are poets for in a destitute time" and explores his understanding about Being and the Open through the critique of nietzschean poet Rilke.For Heidegger,writing and reading poetry doesn’t mean some kind of objectical handle,but “standing within the domain in which poetry unfolds its power”,like Hoelderlin,"exposure to the overwhelming power of beyng".
