With the retirement of Japanese animation master Hayao Miyazaki,the new generation of animation film directors is gradually gaining public attention.Mamoru Hosoda,known as "the new generation of Japanese animation master",stands out from the crowd of animation directors because of his distinctive style and the humanistic theme that runs through his works from his own experience,and has established his position in the Japanese animation industry with several independent works.Starting from Mamoru Hosoda’s personal experience and the influence of social environment on his creation,the thesis uses the methods of documentary analysis,summarization and comparison,etc.,and takes several animated films directed by Mamoru Hosoda as the main object of study,and tries to do a comprehensive investigation of the artistic characteristics of Mamoru Hosoda’s animation camera language,from the two aspects of camera language,camera performance and camera grouping.The thesis consists of five parts: the first part introduces the status of domestic and international research on Mamoru Hosoda,explains the purpose and significance of the thesis and the main research content;the second part focuses on the individual style of Mamoru Hosoda’s animated films,on the one hand taking Mamoru Hosoda’s creative experience as the starting point and analyzing the subjective reasons for the formation of his style.On the other hand,the objective reasons for the formation of Mamoru Hosoda’s style are studied from the perspective of Japanese culture and social environment;the third part focuses on the camera performance of Mamoru Hosoda’s animated films,exploring the influence of the constituent elements of camera language on the narrative and emotional expression of animation from four perspectives: light and shadow,composition,movement,and perspective;the fourth part focuses on the way Mamoru Hosoda’s animated films are handled in terms of camera grouping,respectively The fourth part focuses on Mamoru Hosoda’s animation film’s camera grouping treatment,starting from the language of scene and montage,summarizing the use of scene,flashback montage and repetition montage in Mamoru Hosoda’s animation works;the final conclusion as the fifth part of the thesis,combined with the expression of Mamoru Hosoda’s animation works and the use of camera grouping expression,summarizing the unique charm of Mamoru Hosoda’s animation works,so as to explore the balance between film and animation,art and commerce,trying to provide new ideas and new language for the study of animation camera language.It is an attempt to provide new ideas and new methods for the study of animation camera language.
