With the advancement of China’s rural modernization,local culture has been seriously lost,and most rural cultural heritage has been ignored.This is the expression of the loss of local cultural consciousness.It is the embodiment of the perception of local culture by the people in a community.In the context of rural revitalization,the future of children as a community is the key to local sustainable development,and local culture education is needed.However,at present,there are deficiencies in local culture and education in schools and families.Participatory design,as an active education,is not only an empowerment process,but also a capacity-building process,which is suitable for China’s rural areas.In addition,game design not only has advantages in conveying knowledge,but also can exercise children’s comprehensive abilities such as painting,planning and writing.Therefore,this paper has research significance to improve the local cultural awareness of community children through participatory game design method.The study selected Peijia village with the cultural characteristics of breaking through Kanto in the northeast of Jilin Province as the study area.The participants selected 8 subjects(including 6 children and 2 adults)from local primary schools.The project has carried out three workshops,including cultural exploration workshop,game design workshop and game testing workshop.Finally,the study combines quantitative and qualitative cultural awareness assessment to verify the effectiveness of its activities.In the participatory design serious game project,community children take the initiative to acquire local cultural knowledge.According to the design practice,we finally summarized a framework to stimulate children’s cultural awareness through the process of participatory design.The framework is mainly divided into three parts:(1)organizational level: the author discussed the three elements of "subject selection","place selection" and "time selection",so as to provide reference for the process setting of the workshop.(2)Method level: we choose four ways: exploration,narration,acting and production.In the form of "exploration",research and use the tool of Peijia village culture exploration and investigation list;In the form of "telling",use storyboard answer sheet toolkit and role-playing tools;Using role play tools in the form of "play";In the form of "production",use storyboard answer card toolkit,Peijia village cultural material list,reflective log and card house tools.(3)Objective level: cultural awareness assessment is divided into cultural awareness,that is,the perception of regional culture;Cultural values,that is,to reach an agreement through the connotation and spiritual essence of traditional culture,so as to form the era value containing Chinese excellent traditional culture;Cultural inheritance,that is,the innovation of cultural inheritance methods.To sum up,this paper actively promotes the cultural awareness of community children through the participatory game design method,and provides corresponding reference for researchers and practitioners of Rural Revitalization design and government policy makers.
