| Qin Slips at Yuelu Academy is a group of extremely precious slips of Qin Dynasty.Scholars in the past have done a lot of sorting and discussion in several aspects of its text content,but there are relatively few researches on its specialized chirography characteristics,especially for Qin Slips at Yuelu Academy(Volume Fifth),As a kind of script with the most obvious“Zhuanshu(篆书)”style among Qin Slips at Yuelu Academy,Qin Slips at Yuelu Academy(Volume Fifth),however,has received little attention.At the same time,there are heated debates among the academic community on the nature of its chirography characteristics,some say that the script of this volume is neat“Qinli(秦隶)”,others argue that it should belong to the“Zhuanshu(篆书)”.And none of them has been fully proved.Based on the Qin Slips at Yuelu Academy(Volume Fifth)figure,this paper sorts out the layout and word frequency table.Through the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods,it analyzes the calligrapher and the style of the handwriting,and comprehensively summarizes its chirography characteristics.This paper compares the Qin Slips at Yuelu Academy(Volume Fifth)with the metallic or stony inscriptions of the Chunqiu Period and the Warring States Period(including Qin’gong Bo[秦公镈],Qin’gong Bell[秦公钟]and Qin Yin Jade Slips[秦骃玉版]),the inscriptions of Qin Dynasty imperial edict on the weight and measure(秦代权量诏铭),and other Qin slips(including Qingchuan Wooden Slips[青川木牍],Shuihudi Qin Slips[睡虎地秦简],and the other Yuelu Qin Slips),controlling the variables among different writing materials by method of comparative analysis.This paper summarizes the individual differences and common characteristics between Qin Slips at Yuelu Academy(Volume Fifth)and other materials.At the same time,it also ravels out the development venation of chirography characteristics in the stage of“Libian(隶变)”,and explores the origin of the style of Qin Slips at Yuelu Academy(Volume Fifth).On the basis of the layout,this paper makes a gradual analysis of the chirography of the book,and draws a conclusion that the lines of the Qin Slips at Yuelu Academy(Volume Fifth)are well-proportioned,and restrained in the bunching and letting go with a few decorative lines.The structure is rigorous,simple and thick,with the component combination being even.The chirography style is steady and convergent,and the text tends to be simplified and stable.Through the comparison of high-frequency texts,it is almost clear that Qin Slips at Yuelu Academy(Volume Fifth)was mainly transcribed by two calligrapher at least.This paper summarizes the nature of“Zhuanshu”and“Lishu”,pointing out the Qin Slips at Yuelu Academy(Volume Fifth)is daily commonly-used bamboo book written by ink and brush quickly,and the text simplification phenomenon becomes general.From the objective form,purpose of writing and chirography features,it is more consistent with the essential characteristics of“Lishu”.Therefore,it should be assigned to“Lishu”.Furthermore,it could be called“Zhuanli(篆隶)”,an“ancient Lishu(古隶)”in the early stage of“Libian”.since part of its structure or brushwork has the characteristics of both“Zhuanshu”and“Lishu”.The study of the chirography characteristics of Qin Slips at Yuelu Academy(Volume Fifth)not only gives us a comprehensive and profound understanding of its chirography style,but also helps us to solve the dispute about the nature of Qin Slips at Yuelu Academy(Volume Fifth)and enrich the understanding of the characters in the period of "Libian". |
