In the context of economic globalization,the relationship between people and space has been valued by scholars.Lefebvre space is an important component of social relations,providing us with a broader perspective on understanding space.In the late 20 th century,under the upsurge of "spatial turn",domestic researchers focused on the narrative space of films.This study selected the documentary "The Journey of the Brave",jointly produced by Tencent Video,an internet company,and Discovery Channel in 2021,and combined with the background of the trend of spatial transformation,through the production and construction of the documentary at three levels of spatial practice,spatial representation,and representational space,focused on analyzing how Chinese humanities and history documentaries present spatial construction,On this basis,it analyzes the interaction and examination relationship between Chinese documentaries and national images,and explores the spatial dissemination value of Chinese documentaries.Firstly,this study explains the theoretical significance of "spatial turn".Through sorting out the theory of principles,find out the parts that fit with the space production and construction in Chinese historical documentaries,further clarify how to define and distinguish space in historical documentaries,and lay a foundation for the following discussion of the logic of space production and construction in historical documentaries.Secondly,this study uses "The Journey of the Brave" as a visual sample reflecting national space,seeking the value and connotation of cultural and historical documentaries.The logical framework is based on the "three dimensional dialectics" of space,in which "space practice" combines Kevin Lynch’s theory of urban imagery to explore the imagery expression of physical space in documentaries."The representation of space" relies on the spiritual conception of the creator to explore the significance of the construction of national symbols from the perspective of spatial discourse with representational significance."The space of representation" focuses on the experience from the perspective of the audience.On the basis of practicality and spirituality,it goes deep into the national social and historical context to explore the common issues involving complex social relationships in the dual decoding of the community of human destiny,the construction of youth group values,and cultural communication.Finally,return to the documentary itself,align it with spatial theory,and consider the value of the spatial turn of Chinese historical documentaries.In summary,the development of Chinese historical documentaries has a certain degree of synchronization with the national economic and political development.As a media sample for examining the national development landscape,historical documentaries have reference value for the country’s external communication.Applying Lefebvre’s spatial theory to the framework of image spatial production can enable us to study the logic of image spatial production from a more open perspective,provide value for studying the meaning construction behind the grand themes of documentary films,and trigger reflection on the national image construction undertaken behind historical documentaries. |
