In daily life,many activities of people are inseparable from sustained attention,and inattention will bring adverse consequences to people.Mindfulness is considered as an effective intervention method,so the relationship between mindfulness and sustained attention has become the focus of many studies at present.However,the underlying mechanism remains unclear.This study focuses on sustained attention and probes the relationship between mindfulness and sustained attention.Based on the theory of mindfulness,firstly,it explores the mechanism of mindfulness affecting sustained attention from the perspective of traits.Secondly,mindfulness training is introduced to explore the intervention effect and tracking effect of mindfulness on sustained attention.The research includes two parts:Study 1: The connection between trait mindfulness and sustained attention: the role of cognitive reappraisal and positive emotions in it.For related research.The subjects who have no experience in mindfulness practice were selected to probe the internal connection between trait mindfulness and sustained attention.The Philadelphia Mindfulness Scale(PHLMS)was used to measure the trait mindfulness of the subjects,we employed the cognitive reappraisal scale and the positive and negative emotion scale to measure the participants’ cognitive reappraisal level and the positive emotions,and the SART task was used to reflect the sustained attention level of the subjects.Online recruitment of college students,and finally 172 effective subjects,between the age of 18 and 30 years old.The results indicated that there was a negative correlation between the performance of SART task,response time and false negative rate,that is,trait mindfulness was directly proportional to sustained attention ability.Moreover,cognitive reappraisal and positive emotions play a chain mediating role,that is,trait mindfulness affects sustained attention by influencing cognitive reappraisal and positive emotions.Study 2: The influence of mindfulness training on sustained attention: Explore the intervention effect and tracking effect of mindfulness training on sustained attention from the intervention level.Two groups were falled into experimental and control groups.The experimental group received three weeks of mindfulness training,while the control group was placed on waiting list.Before and after the intervention,the subjects’ state mindfulness,cognitive reappraisal,positive emotion and sustained attention level were measured,and two weeks after the intervention,the tracking effect was observed.The subjects were undergraduates who had no experience in mindfulness practice.Finally,67 effective subjects were enrolled,32 in the experimental group and 35 in the control group.It was found that in comparison to the control group,the experimental group had significant improvement in cognitive reappraisal of state mindfulness,positive emotion and sustained attention level,and the effect still existed after two weeks.The main conclusions of this study are as follows:First,for novices who have no mindfulness practice,trait mindfulness is positively correlated with sustained attention,and cognitive reappraisal and positive emotions play a chain intermediary role in it.Second,mindfulness training improves mindfulness level,cognitive reappraisal,positive emotion and sustained attention,and the tracking effect is remarkable.
