Abstract/Summary:
In recent years, the mental health of children and adolescents has been widely concerned by the country.Junior high school is a critical transition period for physical and mental development,as well as a high incidence of mental health problems and an important stage for the cultivation of positive mental qualities.Current research focuses on the negative aspects of mental health, such as depression and anxiety, while ignoring the positive aspects of mental health. With the proposed dual-factor model of mental health, researchers have gradually shifted the perspective of mental health research to include both negative aspects of mental health(such as anxiety, depression)and positive aspects(such as life satisfaction,self-esteem),so as to evaluate individual mental health status more comprehensively. Therefore, based on the dual-factor model of mental health,a comprehensive discussion of the development characteristics of junior high school students’ mental health and its influencing factors is conducive to a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the mental health status of junior high school students, help families, schools and society to identify the groups susceptible to psychological problems in junior high school students, targeted prevention and intervention, and promote the mental health literacy of junior high school students has a positive effect.Based on broaden-and-build theory of positive emotion, depressive interpersonal relationship theory and ecosystem theory, this study role of adolescent mental health status, group heterogeneity and interpersonal factors(parent-child relationship,teacher-student relationship and friendship quality)under the dual-factor model. This study consists of three sub-studies.Study 1 aimed to explore the developmental characteristics of adolescent mental health based on the dual-factor model. We adopted a longitudinal study design(two time points),used to conduct a questionnaire survey among 1099 junior high school students. The statistical analysis method was repeat measure analysis of variance(ANOVA).Study 2 aimed to explore the group type of adolescent mental health based on the dual-factor model and its relationship with interpersonal factors. We used to conduct a questionnaire survey among 1226 junior high school students. The statistical analysis methods were Latent profile analysis and Logistic regression.Study 3 aimed to investigate the changing pattern of adolescent mental health group types and the role of interpersonal factors in the pattern changing. We adopted a longitudinal study design(two time points),used to conduct a questionnaire survey among 1099 junior high school students. The statistical analysis methods were Latent profile analysis and Latent transition analysis. The main results of this study were as follows:(1)Life satisfaction of adolescents showed a downward trend, while depression showed an increasing trend, and there were significant differences in gender and parental education level, but no significant differences in family residence. The overall trend: life satisfaction of boys was higher than that of girls, depression was lower than that of girls; The higher the parents’ education level, the higher the students’ life satisfaction and the lower the depression.(2)The latent profile analysis showed that, according to the mental health status, can be divided into the completely mental health group(53.1%),and symptomatic but content group(21.8%),vulnerable group(13.4%),disorders(11.7%),four types of groups. The completely mental health group accounted for the largest proportion, the disorders group accounted for the smallest proportion. The protective effects of interpersonal factors on mental health group types were as follows: motherchild relationship,father-child relationship,teacher-student relationship and friendship quality.(3)The latent transition of two time points analysis showed that the stable probabilities of completely mental health group, symptomatic but content group, the vulnerable group and disorders group was 78%,47%,44% and 59% respectively.Good interpersonal relationship plays a protective role in the transformation of mental health group type, among which the mother-child relationship has the greatest influence. The conclusions showed that the mental health status of adolescents decreased, life satisfaction decreased and depression increased. However, the heterogeneity within the group was large, with more than half of the people with complete mental health and about one tenth of the people with disorders. The type of adolescent mental health group has a unique stability and transformation pattern: the stability of the complete mental health group is the highest, the stability of the vulnerable group is the lowest, and the adolescent mental health state is easier to change to the direction of health with the passage of time; The effects of interpersonal factors on mental health in descending order are: mother-child relationship,father-child relationship,teacher-student relationship and friendship quality, good interpersonal relationship promotes the transformation of individual mental health state to healthy direction, among which the mother-child relationship has the greatest influence. The results suggest that we should strengthen the comprehensive evaluation of students’ mental health status;pay attention to different group types of adolescent mental health, precise intervention; To construct all-round three-dimensional interpersonal support system, improve parent-child relationship,teacher-student relationship and peer relationship, and achieve ecological intervention.
