The national English curriculum standards point out that the compulsory English curriculum should be oriented towards all students,pay attention to the different characteristics and individual differences of language learners,and pay attention to the individual development of students.Stratified teaching,as a new teaching method that conforms to the educational concept of the new curriculum standards,to a certain extent meets the national demand for talent cultivation and has attracted more and more attention.This study is an experimental study on English stratified teaching based on previous research and combined with the author’s own teaching experience.It mainly focuses on the following three issues:(1)What is the current implementation status of stratified English teaching in junior high school?(2)Whether stratified teaching can help junior high school students improve their interest in English learning,change their learning attitudes,and enhance their confidence in learning?(3)Whether stratified teaching can enhance students’ English learning performance?This study uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative data analysis methods.Firstly,a student questionnaire is used to investigate the changes in students’ interest,attitude,and confidence in learning English before and after the experiment.A questionnaire survey is conducted for English teachers to understand the implementation status of stratified teaching,existing problems,and teachers’ views on stratified teaching.Secondly,independent sample T test and paired sample T test were used to analyze the pre-test and post-test data to know about the changes in grades between the experimental class and the control class before and after the experiment.Based on the above analysis,it is concluded that:(1)Most junior high school teachers understand stratified teaching,and teachers also consider differences in students’ learning abilities during the teaching process,but there is no systematic teaching plan about stratified teaching.(2)After the stratified teaching experiment,more students in the experimental class liked English classes and actively participated in the class,listened carefully in class,and completed their homework carefully after class.However,there was no significant change in the learning interest and attitude of the students in the control class.(3)By comparing the results of the pre-test and the post-test,it can be seen that after the stratified teaching experiment,the scores of the experimental class students have significantly improved,while the scores of the control class have not significantly changed.Based on the above conclusions,in order to better implement stratified teaching in teaching,the following suggestions are proposed for teachers: Teachers should continuously strengthen their own learning and make adequate preparations for the implementation of stratified teaching;In the process of implementing stratified teaching,teachers should not only always pay attention to the learning situation of students,but also pay attention to the psychological situation of students,and timely adjust the dynamic grouping;Teachers should pay attention to the development of students’ cooperative learning ability while paying attention to individuals;Teachers should pay attention to the implementation of tasks at different levels to facilitate stratified evaluation.
