Grammar is not only the basis of language learning but also the basis of language use.Grammar teaching plays an important role in English teaching.Grammar teaching can help students have a clear and systematic understanding of language rules and help students establish language norms.With the introduction of new curriculum standards and the advancement of college entrance examination reform,English grammar teaching has stepped on the road of reform.The proposal of the activity-based view of English learning provides a new idea for English grammar teaching.In recent years,front-line teachers and scholars have been constantly practicing and studying how to achieve more efficient English grammar teaching based on this view.At present,there are few investigations on the current situation of the practical teaching of English grammar in senior high schools based on the activity-based view of English learning.This thesis carries out relevant investigations from this perspective.In this thesis,the questionnaire method,the interview method,and the classroom observation method are used to study the current situation of the practice of the activity-based view of English learning in high school English grammar teaching.The thesis selected 36 teachers and 255 students from a key high school in Luoyang City as research objects.Firstly,a combination of online and offline questionnaires is conducted,and 34 and 236 valid questionnaires are collected respectively.Then,5 teachers with different years of teaching experience in different grades are selected to conduct in-depth interviews and classroom observations,aiming at studying the following three questions:(1)What are the discernment and viewpoints of high school English teachers towards the activity-based view of English learning?(2)How do high school English teachers carry out grammar teaching based on the activity-based view of English learning?(3)What are the factors that affect high school English teachers’ practice of the activity-based view of English learning in grammar teaching?In this thesis,SPSS 27.0 is used to analyze the data.The results show that the current grammar teaching practice based on the activity-based view of English learning is basically optimistic,but there is still room for further improvement.Firstly,English teachers have a basic understanding of the idea,and most of them support the practice of the view in English grammar teaching.Secondly,teachers have good practice of the activity-based view of English learning in grammar teaching.Grammar teaching objectives conform to the concept of new curriculum standards,pay attention to the development of students’ core qualities,and teaching objectives can be basically achieved;the design and implementation of grammar teaching activities reflect the activity-based view of English learning.Under the guidance of unit theme,teachers enable students to explore,experience and use grammar knowledge by participating in perceiving and understanding,applying and practicing,and transferring and creating activities,so as to cultivate students’ language ability.However,in the present stage of grammar teaching,the proportion of transferring and creating activities practice is small,and more explorations and practice are still needed.In terms of the effect of grammar teaching,students believe that the current grammar teaching basically meets students’ learning needs and has a good effect in enhancing students’ learning interests.However,teachers pay less attention to the cultural factors contained in grammar items in teaching.In addition,in the aspect of grammar teaching evaluation,some teachers fail to fully evaluate students’ grammar level and ignore students’ self-evaluation.Finally,the factors that affect high school English teachers’ practice of the activity-based view of English learning in grammar teaching include:(1)the change in the way of examining grammar in the college entrance examination;(2)the limited teaching time;(3)the lack of grammar teaching resources;(4)the lack of training and guidance of modern information education technology;(5)the degree of cooperation of students.Finally,this thesis puts forward teaching suggestions from the aspects of schools and teachers,so as to promote the better development of grammar teaching based on the activity-based view of English learning.First of all,schools should provide teachers with rich websites and grammar teaching resources,and provide them with training and guidance on information education technology,so as to reduce the pressure on teachers to prepare lessons and make the practice of new ways of grammar teaching more efficient.Secondly,for English teachers,they should:(1)strengthen the cultivation of students’ grammar learning strategies;(2)pay attention to the infiltration of cultural connotations;(3)cultivate students’ various grammar abilities and optimize the evaluation methods of grammar teaching.
