Risk decision-making involves all aspects of human daily life.Individual risk decision-making are not only affected by sensation seeking, but also by threat clues.Sensation seeking is an important personality factor that affects individual risk decision-making.However,there is no consistent research result on how sensation seeking affects individual risk decision-making.Similarly,researchers have found that different types of threat cues have different impacts on risk decision-making.At present, the biggest threat that people perceive comes from COVID-19.In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, researchers found that after large-scale isolation, the number of cases of anxiety disorder and depression increased significantly, which also made individuals more worried about their own health and the safety of economic property. The high infectivity and high masking of COVID-19 pose not only realistic threats to people, but also symbolic threats to people. Both realistic and symbolic threats are related to higher negative emotions and lower happiness. How do the realistic and symbolic threats induced by COVID-19 and sensation seeking affect individual decision-making under risk?In response to the above problems, this study adopts the BART experimental paradigm, through two experimental studies,to explore the impact of sensation seeking and COVID-19 realistic and symbolic threats on risk decision-making.In the first study, the high and low sensationseeking subjects were selected by using the SSS-V,and then the subjects were randomly assigned to the group of COVID-19 realistic threats and the group of the control threats to explore whether the risk decisions of the high and low sensation seeking subjects were different under different threat conditions(COVID-19 realistic threat and control threat). In the second study, first of all,in the same way as the first study, high and low sensation-seeking subjects were selected by using the SSS-V,and then the subjects were randomly assigned to to the group of COVID-19 symbolic threats and the group of the control threats to explore whether the risk decisions of the high and low sensation-seeking subjects were different under different threat conditions(COVID-19 symbolic threats and control threats).Through the above two studies, the following conclusions are drawn:(1)Sensation-seeking have a significant impact on individual decision-making under risk.High-sensing seekers are more inclined to risk preferences, and low-sensing seekers are more inclined to risk aversion preferences;(2)There is no impact on the risk decision of the COVID-19 realistic and symbolic threats.
