This paper focuses on the large-scale Tibetan musical dance "Qomolangma",which was jointly created by the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China,the government of the Tibet Autonomous Region,subordinate units,and related enterprises in 1999.The research aims to explore the significance of this work in building Tibetan traditional culture,as well as its cultural connotation and artistic value.This paper argues that Qomolangma is a turning point in the development of Tibetan dance culture.It is the repertoire of "Qomolangma" and the subsequent construction of "intangible culture" that have raised Tibetan traditional dance culture to a new level,which is a precursor and a foreshadowing of cultural development.Different from the creation methods of traditional dances in previous times,"Qomolangma" has profoundly changed the creation methods and understanding of folk dances in the past.In the past,most of the traditional dances were used as "me" and the object of transformation.In contrast,the traditional dance creation after "Qomolangma" is level-level,expressed from the perspective of the people,showing the traditional dance with the folklore,tradition and legitimacy of folk culture,adopting an "original" and "original" state,and recreating modernity in various aspects such as dance vocabulary,costumes,and stage sounds.The success of "Qomolangma" has had a profound impact on subsequent Tibetan traditional dance culture and has become the mainstream approach to creating traditional Tibetan dance works.Therefore,it is of great significance to analyze,summarize,and conclude its theory.This thesis is divided into five parts.The first chapter provides an overview of the large-scale Tibetan music and dance performance "Qomolangma".This chapter will be structured in three parts:providing background information on the work,offering an overview of the work,and conducting a detailed analysis of the musical and dance piece "Qomolangma".By means of conducting interviews,analyzing video footage,and comparing relevant literature,this study aims to achieve a more comprehensive understanding of both the creative process and artistic expression of the play.Our objective is to accurately position the success of the play and evaluate its impact,thereby providing a solid theoretical foundation for the subsequent section of this research.Chapter 2 focuses on the historical situation of Tibetan traditional dance.This chapter aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the social environment surrounding the historical background of Tibetan traditional dance.Beginning with the primitive Tibetan dance from thousands of years ago and continuing through the entry of the 18 th Army into Tibet in1950,we will explore the cultural landscape of dance development during each period.Furthermore,its conducts a further analysis of the fundamental aspects of the development of Tibetan traditional dance culture following the peaceful liberation of Tibet.Chapter 3 serves as a significant exploration of Qomolangma,a pivotal moment in the contemporary development of traditional Tibetan dance.This chapter delves into an analysis of the cultural antecedents and historical context of each period,within the framework of both the social background and contemporary trends of Tibetan traditional dance.It examines how the play successfully instills cultural self-confidence,thus emphasizing the significance of this pivotal "turning point." This analysis serves as an important reflection of the cultural connotations and artistic value of the play.Chapter 4 explores the influence of Qomolangma on the development of traditional Tibetan dance.This chapter delves into the new paradigm created by the play and explores the positive effects it has had on various aspects of the performance,including dance vocabulary,party structure,stage costumes,venue environment,and cooperation mode.Through a comparative analysis,the chapter also examines the impact of Qomolangma on the development of traditional Tibetan dance in the past two decades.Chapter 5 serves as a personal reflection and interpretation of the traditional dance development model in Tibet,which can also be considered as an epilogue to the study.This chapter offers a thoughtful and hopeful perspective on the future development of Tibetan traditional dance,taking into account the current trends of the new era.Additionally,it presents some suggestions for my own development plan,with the aim of contributing to the flourishing of Tibetan cultural undertakings and making a meaningful impact.
