The outbreak of COVID-19 has caused destructive effects on many aspects of life.Education is no exception and has undergone immense impact.University and School Collaborations during a Pandemic focuses on how universities response to the global pandemic and how to sustain educational opportunity and reinvent education during this period.The ST of the translation practice is extracted from the book.The significance of the translation practice is to improve the translator’s ability in dealing with academic and informative text as well as offering some reference for the related researches.The purpose of the translation practice report is to discover and summarize the problems and difficulties found and encountered in the process of translation practice,so as to further improve the quality of translation.Through two research methods,literature study and case analysis,the main problems in translation practice are found and summarized: how to standardize title translation,how to accurately translate professional terms and how to make the TT expression in line with the TL habits.Guided by Newmark’s communicative translation theory,the translator adopts various strategies and skills to tackle the problems and difficulties,e.g.,determining translation of titles according to the ST context and the parallel rules;using literal translation,amplification,and semantic extension for term translation;adopting conversion of part of speech,and information restructuring to conform the TT to TL habits.By summarizing the problems encountered in the translation practice,the translator acquires further understanding on communicative theory and accumulates precious experiences for future translation work.It is sincerely hoped that this report can provide reference for relevant translation activities. |
