| The text for this translation is selected from Wang Qi’s The Fragrance of Flos Sophorae from a Little Town. The book was published by Hebei Education Publishing House in 2020.It tells the hero Little Qingzi’s growing story with vivid and beautiful language while showing people’s striving spirit and dedication in the 1980 s.This translation practice is guided by Vermeer’s three rules of Skopos theory. From the perspective of the three rules of Skopos Theory, the translator adopted different translation methods to achieve the expected translation purpose.Firstly, under the guidance of the Skopos rule, the translator analyzed the translation of fourcharacter phrases, repeated words, and colloquial expressions in the original text, using free translation and omission methods.Secondly, the sentence structure of the original text is loose, including many run-on sentences and sentences with serial verbs.Under the guidance of the coherence rule, the translator needed to grasp the implicit logical relationship between sentences, choose corresponding translation methods, and appropriately adjust the structure of the original text to obtain a coherent and logical translation. Finally, under the guidance of the fidelity rule, the translator adopted literal translation and annotation to translate culture-loaded words and rhetorical sentences in the original text.Through case analysis, the translator validated the feasibility of Skopos theory in guiding the translation of children’s literature, gained valuable practical experience, and gained a deeper understanding of children’s literature translation. It is hoped that this translation practice can provide some reference for the translation of children’s literature and attract more scholars’ attention and discussion on the translation of children’s literature. |
