| In February 2022,the National Cancer Center released the latest cancer report of China – “Cancer incidence and mortality in China,2016”.According to the report,lung cancer has become the malignant tumor with the highest morbidity in China.Therefore,it is helpful to translate the English medical information about lung cancer into Chinese so that the Chinese readers can have more understanding of its latest development.This thesis is an English-Chinese translation report.The ten source texts were selected from https://www.ilcn.org/.This website is IASLC’s official news medium for thoracic oncology specialists around the globe,which provides its international audience with lung cancer news on topics across specialties and interests.IASLC is a global multidisciplinary organization dedicated to eradication of all forms of lung cancer.Under the guidance of Newmark’s communicative translation theory,this translation report makes a case analysis of the translation problems encountered and the corresponding solutions.The translation problems include the mistranslation of the technical terms,the neglect of cohesion in the translation,the lack of coherence in the translation and the failure to deal with the metaphors.The corresponding solutions are the verification of the Chinese expressions with more accurate searches,the focus on the grammatical cohesion in the target context,the revision of the Chinese draft according to the textual meaning and the deletion of the metaphors so as to remove the barriers to understanding in the target readers’ reading.With this medical translation,the translator has realized her shortcomings and improved her translation abilities.Hopefully,this report can be helpful for the relevant translation. |
