| The report chooses the Introduction and Chapter 1 of clinical work in psychoanalysis Against Understanding Volume 1: Commentary and Critique in A Lacanian Key(AU below)as translation task.In AU,Bruce Fink,an American Lacanian psychoanalyst, mainly explored the characteristics of familiarity and identity in the process of understanding, and he revealed how the common “understanding”led to the limitations of the work for clinicians, and also re-emphasized that the basic goal of psychoanalytic therapy is not to understand but to change. This report aims to carry out the English-Chinese translation of psychoanalytic texts to provide some reference for the translation activities in the analytic cause, consulting industry, clinical work, and literature reading and translation. In terms of translation theory,Laurence Venuti himself has paid attention to the translation of Freudian psychoanalysis earlier in his The Translator’s Invisibility(1995).In order to better use the academic advantages for translating foreign theories and introducing industrial techniques, the translator selects intentionally the translation experiment, interpretation of polysemy and the ethics of difference about Venuti’s Foreignization theory. This report tries to examine the effectiveness of foreignizing theory in practice and the epistemological value in theory. And through a large number of instances, the translator has also preliminarily sorted out some translation strategies and techniques of the foreignization applicable to psychoanalytic texts, and concluded some more valuable usages and operational norms in practice for the current and active translation about psychoanalysis in China. |
