In the past,scholars generally understood “the Feelings of Shame and Dislike”from the perspective of human nature.Under the trend of the development of Mencius’ philosophy of moral emotion,this thesis is mainly based on the perspective of philosophy of moral emotion,taking Mencius’ “the Feelings of Shame and Dislike” as the research object,and discussing from the aspects of basic connotation,emotional connection and research significance.According to Mencius’ text discussion of “Four Beginnings(for moral excellence)”,many basic provisions of “the Feelings of Shame and Dislike” have become the academic consensus,but there are disputes in emotional types and emotional objects.In fact,the existence of these disputes emphasizes that “the Feelings of Shame and Dislike” is a moral emotion that contains a variety of emotions such as shame,disgrace,hatred and even the process of emotional transformation,and as an important emotional object,the other often plays a significant role in the generation of this emotion.From the perspective of “Four Beginnings(for moral excellence)” as a whole,“the Feelings of Shame and Dislike” is closely associated with the other three moral emotions.Specifically,“the Feelings of Commiseration” is premise of “the Feelings of Shame and Dislike”;“the Feelings of Right and Wrong” is the internal standard of“the Feelings of Shame and Dislike”;“the Feelings of Modesty” is the effect of “the Feelings of Shame and Dislike”.From the perspective of the relationship between these four moral emotions,the characteristic of the unity of emotion and reason of“the Feelings of Shame and Dislike” has been highlighted.Promoting and expanding “the Feelings of Shame and Dislike” is the inevitable requirement to maintain human uniqueness and essential value,and also the need to promote social morality and justice,which is the value that Max Scheler and Martha Nussbaum lack and pursue in their similar emotional categories.From the perspective of the individual and society,promoting and expanding “the Feelings of Shame and Dislike” contributes to the balance of individual emotional structure and spiritual health development,the inheritance and promotion of shame culture,the internalization and standardization of social justice,and so on.
