Aerospace technology makes full use of all kinds of advanced technologies,which marks the country’s comprehensive scientific and technological strength.China’s space industry has stepped into the stage of rapid development,and it has taken a leading position in the field of aeronautics and astronautics in the world,which makes the attention and research in the field of aeronautics also strengthened.Aviation expertise contains the application of disciplines such as physics and life practice.Therefore,it is necessary to cultivate interest in aviation knowledge and strengthen knowledge learning in related fields,so as to comprehensively,accurately and deeply apply it in scientific and technological translation exchanges and promote scientific and technological opening and cooperation.Vortex and Jet : A Journey to Explore the Beauty and Mystery of Flight(hereinafter referred to as Vortex and Jet)written by Reiner Decher is selected as the source text in this report,and two chapters of which are translated into Chinese.Vortex and Jet gives a vivid and detailed introduction to the inner workings of modern jet engines and explains airflow phenomena for the lay reader,making it a good reference for those who have no expertise but are curious about how airplanes fly.This translation task and case analysis are completed under the guidance of constructivist translatology.In the constructivist translatology proposed by Lv Jun,the three major translation criteria are: respect for the objectivity of knowledge,rationality of understanding and universal acceptability of interpretation,and orientation of the original text.In view of this,the translator applies the skills in amplification,conversion,affirmation and negation from the three levels of vocabulary,sentence and text respectively,aiming at practical analysis of the polysemy and semantic asymmetry of a word encountered in the process of English-Chinese translation,as well as the cohesive and coherent function of the shell noun in the text.This report can be regarded as a process of reasoning for the practical feasibility of translation theory,with the aim of constructing the best intercommunication among authors,translators and readers of source texts.In order to exchange and learn from the translation practice of similar texts.
