With the economic globalization,many foreign enterprises have entered the Chinese markets,set up branches and carried out business in China.In order to better manage local employees and standardize their behavior,the Chinese branch translated the Employee Handbook from its headquarters into Chinese version.Therefore,the translation of the Employee Handbook is of great importance.This report is based on the translation project of Employee Handbook of Fleishman-Hillard International Communications.It describes in detail the text features,difficulties in translation and corresponding translation strategies.The report is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is introduction to the translation program.The second chapter describes the translation process,including preparation before translation,execution during project and quality control.The third chapter is a case study,which summaries characteristics of Employee Handbook from lexical and syntactic level and analyzes their translation strategies.The lexical part mainly discusses about the use of legal terms,workplace terms,noun modifiers and modal words.The syntactic part mainly explores sentences in passive voice,imperative sentences and long and difficult sentences.The fourth chapter is the conclusion part,which expounds the author’s feelings and gains after finishing this translation project.
