| Saussure,the founder of structuralism linguistics,defined the concepts and manifestations of "signifier" and "signified" in his Course in General Linguistics,which led Peirce to create semiotics.In 1964,Christian Metz borrowed Saussure’s structuralism linguistics and put forward the theory of "film semiotics".He believes that movies are a symbolic system composed of sentences and paragraphs(i.e.shots and shot paragraphs),and all characters,emotions,and environments can be considered as the language of movie imagery.This paper aims to illustrate the application of semiotics in film audio-visual language through the study of Robert Metz’s film semiotics theory.In the first film semiotics theory,Metz gives his own different research views on the interpretation of the signifier and the signified of image symbols,and the theory that images have no second segment.By analyzing the case of the campus micro film "Dormitory Storm",the article first realizes the decoding of film and television symbols such as narrative theme symbols,character image symbols,narrative environment symbols,sound symbols,and lighting symbols for this case.Obtain the signifier behind the symbol through the signifier on the surface of the film and television symbol.Through the connotation of symbols,understand the extension that is universal to society.And through this comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the spiritual connotation of the micro film "Dormitory Storm".Then the article made a systematic director’s exposition of the micro film "Dormitory Storm" before and after shooting,respectively on the text creation of the film,camera techniques and the use of semiotics in the post production process.In addition,this article also provides a detailed record of various problems encountered during the film production process,as well as various inspirations obtained from this.Finally,through the analysis of this case,this article aims to explore an implementable plan that can be followed in the early preparation and shooting process for low-cost literary films,providing reference for future professionals engaged in similar types of film and television creation.In the exploration and analysis of movies,it is inseparable from the construction and research of movie symbols.As an important subject of visual works,in-depth analysis and decoding of various visual symbols,including narrative environment symbols and character relationship symbols,is an important process of excavating the essence and significance of the work. |
