Limited Space Type Suspense Movie Narrative Skill Analysis

Suspense film is one of the most important genres in the film industry. This kind offilm is different to others by its suspenseful structure style and intense audienceexperience. The film, which set the story in confined space, a sub-genre of suspensefilm, is characterized by: unique narrative structure, suspense style, and characterrelations. It is similar to one-act play in theatre art.This thesis discusses and compares the narrative style and suspense setup of somerecent important confined space type films in the international film market, while thistype of films is lack in Chinese film market.“Chamber escape” type,“two men in oneroom” type, and “mountain villa in storm” type are three models of plot studied in thisarticle. Through the research on the space, which is an element in the narration, findits importance for achieving the purpose of suspense. Also, the thesis is written to helpfinding a better solution for Chinese film industry to expend the variety and diversityin screenplay writing.
