Zhao Jianping’s Novel Research

Zhao Jianping is an important creative backbone of contemporary literature in Guizhou.In 1979,he published the short story "The Man Who Knocked the Gong" in the pure literary journal "Mountain Flower" in Guizhou,and since then,he has continued to write novels,reportage,scripts,essays and other genres,but the highest number of creations and artistic level is novels,and it is also the novel works that make it an indispensable one of the contemporary writers in Guizhou.As the third generation representative writer of Guizhou rural novels,Zhao Jianping continues the context of Guizhou rural novels,keeps up with the pace of development of the times,deeply pays attention to and writes about the rural society in the changing times,and actively responds to the central literary trend with his creative achievements from the margins.Based on Guizhou’s local experience,he examines the modernization process that rural China is undergoing from the perspective of ecological civilization,and is the first writer in Guizhou to think about modern civilization from an ecological perspective.In terms of artistic exploration,while inheriting the realist tradition of Guizhou,Zhao Jianping also added an "allegorical" writing method,presenting the aesthetic heterogeneity of Guizhou’s rural novel creation.In the 21 st century,the exploration of the spiritual meaning and artistic creation of local novels by the fourth generation of Guizhou rural writers Ouyang Qiansen,Wang Hua,Xiao Jianghong and other writers has begun to appear in Zhao Jianping’s novels.Therefore,from the historical context of the development of rural novels in Guizhou,Zhao Jianping’s novels have the significance of carrying forward the past and enlightening the future.In addition,as the first generation of important representative writers of Gelao literature in Guizhou,with the strengthening of ethnic identity,Zhao Jianping not only strives to express his personal life experience in the border areas,but also strives to highlight his own ethnic characteristics,extending his brushstrokes into the depths of the ethnic spirit and ethnic culture of the Gelao people,showing his worries about the survival of his own ethnic group in the process of modernization.Taking regionality and ethnicity as the vitality of novel works,the writing of regional ethnicity reaches the "center",presenting the local path of Guizhou created by Zhao Jianping’s novels.Taking Zhao Jianping’s novels as the research object,this paper discusses the formation of Zhao Jianping’s literary temperament,clarifies the periodization of his creation,and analyzes Zhao Jianping’s novels from three aspects: theme,literary image and artistic style on the basis of close reading of the text,excavates the ideological and artistic value therein,and grasps the significance of Zhao Jianping in the contemporary literary history of Guizhou.The main contents are as follows:The first chapter is mainly an overview of Zhao Jianping’s novel creation.Firstly,the reasons for the formation of Zhao Jianping’s literary temperament are explored,including the nurturing of the regional environment in northern Qianbei and the nourishment of the Gelao culture.Secondly,according to the characteristics of Zhao Jianping’s novels in different life periods,the 27-year novel creation process is divided into stages,and the creative characteristics of each stage are summarized.The second chapter delves into the themes of Zhao Jianping’s novels.This chapter mainly analyzes and discusses the thematic implications of Zhao Jianping’s novels from three aspects: his concern for rural society in the changing times,his thinking on the relationship between man and nature,and the care of the Gelao people and ethnic culture,deeply grasps the inheritance and exploration of Zhao Jianping’s novels in terms of theme,and discusses the value and significance of Zhao Jianping’s novels in contemporary literature in Guizhou.The third chapter focuses on the literary image in Zhao Jianping’s novels.In Zhao Jianping’s novel,there are three typical literary images,namely the "last" series of character images,rural female images and animal images,this chapter will carefully analyze the above three literary images and expound the characteristics of the literary image in Zhao Jianping’s novel.The fourth chapter explores the artistic style of Zhao Jianping’s novels.Through the discussion and analysis of the realistic creation background of Zhao Jianping’s novels,the tendency of "allegorization" writing,and the narrative language,this chapter comprehensively grasps the artistic style of combining reality and "allegorization" in Zhao Jianping’s novels,and points out the inheritance and breakthrough of Zhao Jianping’s novels to the realist tradition in Guizhou.
