The English Curriculum Standards for General Senior High Schools(2017 Edition 2020 Revised)proposes that teachers should correctly deal with the relationship among teaching,learning and assessment,and promote the implementation of teaching-learning-assessment alignment(TLAA)for the purpose of improving teaching and learning through assessment.In order to make sure the alignment of teaching,learning,and assessment,teaching objectives,teaching assessment and teaching activities need to be consistent.Besides,teaching assessment and teaching activities are designed according to teaching objectives.Taking reading teaching for example,the research focuses on the steps of implementing TLAA in English reading teaching and the effect of TLAA on students’ reading performance by action research.The research takes 55 students,from Class 4 in the first Grade of a senior high school as the research subjects.The research questions are as follows:1.What are the situations of TLAA in current English reading teaching in senior high school?2.How can a teacher implement TLAA based on curriculum standards in English reading teaching in senior high school?3.What effects does TLAA based on curriculum standards have on the students’ reading performance?The research lasts for a semester,including preliminary research and two rounds of action research.In the preliminary research,the situations of TLAA in current English reading teaching at the studied senior high school are researched through interview and classroom observation.There are some common problems.The design of teaching objectives is arbitrary and not operable;furthermore,the degree of objective fulfillment is low.Teaching assessment in class is without foundation and some classes are lack of assessment.Teaching objectives,assessment and teaching activities are not aligned.With the aim of solving these problems,the first round of action research applies TLAA based on curriculum standards to English reading teaching under the guidance of the theories of Bloom’s Taxonomy of Educational Objectives and backward design.The second round of action research is conducted to improve the first round research.Through two rounds of action research,TLAA can be implemented in the following steps: formulate scientific and specific teaching objectives,design operable and performance assessments,determine consistent and clear learning activities,organize teaching,give feedback and make adjustments.After the action research,the designs of teaching objectives,assessment and teaching activities have been optimized;the degree of alignment among teaching,learning and assessment has been promoted;besides,students’ reading scores have been improved and their performances in reading teaching have changed positively.Finally,on the basis of the results,the thesis puts forward relative suggestions to promote the implementation of TLAA in English reading teaching in senior high school.
