Fantastic Trauma

As a "post-80s" Northeastern writer,most of the works published by Shuang Xuetao currently write about his own Northeastern memory.He tells his "Tiexi Story" in an objective and calm tone,and uses his novel to record the trauma of the times brought to ordinary workers by the factory restructuring at the end of the last century.From the perspective of his children,he speaks for the aphasiatic parents,excavates the "splendid heritage" from the parents,and finds for himself the spiritual foundation of the times.Starting from the content of the novel,Shuang Xuetao reconstructs a large number of landmark buildings in Tiexi District in his works,depicts the marginal characters living in it and their chaotic life,and refreshes the light and humorous image of the Northeast under the contemporary Northeast comedy culture.With his pen,he revealed the trauma of the era caused by the economic restructuring,recorded the forgotten painful history,and showed the traces of history to most workers and their children.As far as the way of narration is concerned,Shuang Xuetao uses the method of writing dreams and illusions to construct a Northeast world with a source of memory and fantasy and confusion.He repeatedly used dreams to reproduce his fears.For him,memory is fear.So he realized his own overcoming of fear and transcendence of historical trauma by writing horror memories many times.At the same time,he also creates illusions to solve the absurd fate of the characters in his works that cannot be expressed,and to realize the poetic escape of ordinary people from reality.When telling the history of the old industrial area,Shuang Xuetao used the most popular suspense narratives,allowing readers to experience the chaos of the past era and the desperate resistance of ordinary people to the era while enjoying the pleasure of deciphering unsolved cases.In addition,he also uses multiple first-person perspectives to narrate the same story,speak for ordinary people of different identities,and fully realize the unmasking of history.While recording the pain,Shuang Xuetao saw the new life of the times and people under the trauma.His narration records the victims of the era,seeks overdue justice for them,and gives the victims of the era the right to be remembered.Shuang Xuetao’s writings in the Northeast perfected the history belonging to the workers,while reshaping the "Northeast imagination" of the times.His portrayal of marginal characters shows the enormous energy they bear,reminds the existence of characters other than the mainstream heroes of the era,and reminds the possibility of society achieving "downward transcendence".Finally,he returned to himself and saw the self-meaning of these energies.Through the inheritance of the "splendid legacy",we can find a solid spiritual foundation for ourselves to stand in the torrent of the times.
